Commercial grade toilet paper looks about that color and is certainly cheaper than a swatch deck, which are suggested to be replaced every 18 months (most do not). It’s passed along as industry common knowledge that many factories have very old decks that might not include later color additions.

A thing that people who don’t work with Pantone swatches might miss about why the Color of the Year announcement is a peculiar brand decision is that it functionally leaves out a large group of their active user base. 🧵

Some of the blur was the wind moving the trees, but some was just me shivering

Granted my phone is newer now to pick up more in pictures than previous times, but I’ve never seen the aurora this red before. At points, it seemed blood red.

Pentil Orenz mechanical pencil in mint green, .5mm and .3mm
Really light to hold

Staedler 925-75 drafting pencil in white, .5mm
Has a graphite grade indicator you can set. I wouldn’t say it’s impervious to switching unintentionally, but it’s neat.

Probably the next headline after this one: “Did Women Ruin the Workforce?”
(Would seem they’ve since updated it to “Did Liberal Feminism Ruin the Workplace?” but nonetheless.)

We managed to get some Halloween stuff together, albeit last minute-ish. I’m grateful to have not done anything beyond hemming for kids’ costumes this year.

I should probably make some stew with our bountiful carrot harvest. 🥕

I made these Apple Butter Cookies. They are probably going in our permanent rotation. Very soft cookie. (I confess I added extra vanilla & cinnamon though.) www.bigbearswife.com/apple-butter...

Have been seeing a bunch of sleepy ‘bumbees’ (as my youngest calls them) in the garden.
While harvesting the dry zinnias for seeds, I nearly grabbed the one resting underneath the petal. Hadn’t thought to look for them there!

I used to want to use something like a card catalog or apothecary cabinet for art supplies. I’m not sure I have room for it now, but this might be what I do unless I find a spectacular deal on one.

We finally got around to dealing with a big collection of sticks in the yard (still very new to this ‘having a yard’ thing), and in the process found these. I *want* to believe they have cool moths inside (like the giant orange/brown one my grandma showed me as a kid), but also…

Sometimes with parenting it’s all too easy to measure a season ending by what didn’t get done, but…there are plenty of things we did do together that hopefully make fun childhood memories of summer.

The unrelenting awful of the news is a lot, but in happy things, the zinnias and cosmos that oldest and I planted have survived the weather and the beetles, and youngest is still pronouncing “oatmeal” as “oh, meow.”

It’s still possible to get to @wetpaintart.bsky.social with the construction (which youngest was thrilled to watch)! A hawk greeted us on our way by. The Holbein granulating and luminous watercolor sets are still calling my name, but I’m trying to first use the watercolors I have before getting new.

This makes me laugh (though I confess not nearly as much as the meme of Elmo face down in…uh… ‘powdered sugar’ (but I can’t remember if that’s against platform guidelines)

Took these photos exactly one month apart, the second yesterday on Independence Day. First thought looking at the change was “…there’s a metaphor trying to get out.” 🎶

Spouse, however, might be forever haunted by the chorus of squeak-shrieks that occurred moments before the almost-massacre. 🐰 All seem safe though, and mama bunny stops by periodically.
