✨Intro post:
I’m a designer + illustrator. Sometimes my holiday product designs are in mass market stores. (I also have my own shop but don’t usually promote on my personal account.) Interests are children’s lit, reading, and medical science (for sake of one of my kids).
Hi! 👋
straight to jail to the drivers on the interstate who slow down significantly before the exit when weather doesn’t merit it at all

I just donated to my local food bank. If you can, you should too. People are already suffering but next month, in particular, is going to be so difficult.
I should probably make some stew with our bountiful carrot harvest. 🥕
Thank you! I might try this. I sometimes have wondered whether one pediatric tilt table test is enough to know one way or the other on this (but alas, I’m just the mom who asks too many questions).
First we used and like the Ziploc 16 oz. Twist ‘n Loc containers to store frozen soup. Then when those became impossible to find and kept breaking, we tried some larger, snap-lid ones from IKEA. Now we’re trying some 16 oz. from Bentgo. Bring on soup season.
It’s really weird thinking about how someday aspiring historians are probably going to do dissertations on the evolution of frog iconography in the first quarter of the century.
I had to replace that one with a better one I bought at an independent art store, one where the employees would unquestionably know what I was talking about, so a lesson in ‘saving time’ not actually saving time.
I once asked a craft store employee where the bone folders were located. She looked at me like I’d emerged from a true crime podcast before she told me she didn’t think they carried those, so I asked if they carried paper crease folders. Wouldn’t ya know it, they do. Always makes me laugh.
Happened upon reviews of a picture book we’ve checked out from the library. Being upset over autumn being reduced to one color & then saying “kids are smart” as a reason why poetic imagery shouldn’t be used…is interesting. I guess only Robert Frost is allowed to reduce nature to one color then, huh?

This is Trump’s “Let them eat cake” moment.

Dems should be doing nothing but talking about how he has used the presidency to enrich himself to a repulsive degree, is demanding more taxpayer money, and building himself a golden ballroom while letting millions of Americans go without.
I admit I’m less familiar with the solo stuff and decreasingly familiar with the albums before, but that’s a lot to unpack. Godspeed on your trip.
The radioactive aspect of certain things is so true. In the short term, people prefer to misunderstand, blame, ‘Pollyanna,’ and never consider that so many things need to fundamentally change to make the world work for everyone (including changing working hours).
Me, discussing child’s temporarily captive caterpillar: Number of times reading an Eric Carle book aside, based on the mess inside this bug house I still feel like I underestimated how much a caterpillar eats.

Spouse: You and I of ALL PEOPLE should know how much a caterpillar eats. 📕🐛

I hope the ghost of Dolley Madison is cooking up something big.
Every time I read the heist headlines, Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman” plays in my head.

(I know, I know. It was a different museum.)
I made these Apple Butter Cookies. They are probably going in our permanent rotation. Very soft cookie. (I confess I added extra vanilla & cinnamon though.) www.bigbearswife.com/apple-butter...
I need to go back to using cookbooks to find cookie recipes since Pinterest has gotten so saturated with recipes that seem like they’ve never been photographed or even tested by the people who originally post them. That said, it’s nice finding a recipe that turns out exactly how the picture shows.
I’m so very sorry, Amy. That’s so young and so unfair. Praying for your whole family. 💔
It’s also been disappointing watching some who are so hopeful for research funding into things like Lyme and Long Covid play the silver-lining card with him. It’s sleight of hand, not a silver lining. He’s no advocate for anything but his own interests.

US media highlight Long #COVID19 as a serious issue. It describes what Long COVID is like for kids: "a slow-moving spiral: first their health, then their grades, then their future."

Long Covid Is Real -- And It's Changing an Entire Generation
Long Covid is affecting hundreds of thousands of kids in America, and many doctors and schools refuse to recognize their illness.

It’s right up there with all the early-ish Instagram handles with only lowercase, no spaces for every profession under the sun, but ESPECIALLY ones like jamietherapist that looked more like headlines than professions
Sometimes desperate times call for photoshop

All I can add to the “we reject universal masking” discourse is that it’s not about masks. You aren’t rejecting universal masking, which never happened; you’re rejecting having to think about wearing a mask, and maybe feeling badly about thinking about masks. Can’t help you there.
It’s the same dichotomy schools have when there’s not enough money to keep the EAs & nurses in the district, there’s absolutely no money for viral mitigation, but LOOK at the shiny, new extracurricular dept.!

It’s sure too bad about those sick kids…

Good thing it’s only those other people’s kids.
Also what is this interesting dichotomy among the Bluesky Libs of “I DONT HAVE TO MASK BECAUSE NO ONE MASKS” and “LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE MASKING AND WEIRD ABOUT IT”

please folks, a lot of us have brain fog. Can you pick an excuse for ignoring social responsibility and stick to it?
