Worked in legal organizing for the last few years, and I never would have thought a movement of lawyers was possible until I had the displeasure of doing this job under Trump 2.0. Recent history has shown that attorneys and jurists can play a big role in bringing their nations back from the brink of autocracy. That day is coming for us as well.

Sports Carlos

Taylor Fritz comes close, but can't reproduce his Laver Cup "win" against Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP Finals in Turn.

Alcaraz all but secures his spot in the semifinals with a 6-7², 7-5, 6-2 victory, advancing if Alex de Minaur defeats Lorenzo Musetti later today.

Carlos Alcaraz wins 6²-7⁷, 7-5, 6-3 against Taylor Fritz

A grueling 2 hour and 47 minute high quality battle. Fritz may not have won, but he made Carlos earn it, and 14 minute hold early in the 2nd set proved to be extremely pivotal. 1 win away from YE #1.

Jannik Sinner wins 7-5, 6-1 against Felix Auger-Aliassime

Was competitive early, but a leg injury that FAA picked up basically ended this match, based on what I saw in the last 20-25 minutes, there's a real shot that Bublik is playing the next match.

Puttin' on the Fritz

Taylor Fritz has a big chunk of points to defend as last year's ATP Finals runner-up.

But, the American at least ensures he won't go home winless, putting together "never-in-doubt" victory over Lorenzo Musetti, 6-3, 6-4, to kick off this year's campaign.

Carlos Gets Goin'

After a month of "who will qualify!?!" hubbub, the ATP Finals are here!

And Carlos Alcaraz notches the first win of this year's contest, getting past Alex de Minaur, 7-6⁵, 6-2 early on Day 1.

The Spaniard is battling Jannik Sinner for the year-end #1 ranking.

Awesome in Austin!

After stunning Madison Keys at the US Open back in September, Renata Zarazua battles through to take her biggest title of 2025.

The 28yo from Mexico City outlasts Marina Stakusic, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, to score her 3rd WTA 125 title and climb back up from #82 to #70.

She also said in a recent interview that she sees Russian people as "Objects. People on a purely biological level."

So, again, it will be interesting to see how the WTA and US media talks about her now that she'll be playing the WTA Tour much more consistently. Personally, I find her fascinating.

For context, she will be a polarizing figure once US media realizes she exists. The WTA had to force her to take a patch off her kit in 2024 that advertised the charity she supports which purchases armed drones for the Ukrainian military. Her father is actively serving in that military. (1/2)

But, she's not waiting around for it.

Alexander Zverev wins 6-3, 7⁸-6⁶ against Ben Shelton

Wins the last 5 points after Shelton had 3 set points, 2 on his serve. Zverev let out a huge roar, he seemed very nervous late in that tiebreak, got a few key errors from Ben, but a win is a win.

The Athens thing has made this look more confusing than usual as they had to split the groups for the first 2 days. Alcaraz and Zverev both won today and are atop their group for the time being, as the entire first round in each group not done.
