Round one of the December 2025 cold snap: lowest temperatures (ºF) during the week ending Dec 12. Lowest reported temps: -58F (-49.8C) at Faro, YT and -56F (-48.9C) at Chicken, AK. As far as I know, no place with more than 30 years of climate observations set a daily record low. #akwx #Winter2025

Chukchi Sea sea ice growth the first half of November has been slower than normal. Total ice extent now slightly below last year on Nov 15 but still above the 1991-2020 median in NSIDC data, though not by much. Bering Sea ice extent is quite similar to the past three years. #akwx #Arctic #SeaIce
