I think the simple answer is that the budget is about political survival (placate the markets and MPs) not some grand plan.

What I don’t get Alex is they bloody same people crushed internal Labour Party dissent… and they get into power with all that entails and it’s like “oh well sorry no can’t do anything really!”

Conference delegates with awkward motions were kicked out of the party!
