Meh, she gets to feel superior and benevolent, he gets presumably relatively regular sex and a wife.

Seems a win/win to be fair.

I'll be watching polling in my usually tight Tory/Labour swing marginal very closely.

Still struggling to forgive the 2010 coalition after being told 'vote LD to keep the Tories out', though.

Jenrick and Farage battling for the right wing nutter vote while middle England wonders where on earth to put their cross would make for a very interesting election.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
This guy must be really pathetic to get 3 pity kids and a pity marriage out of you.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
This is properly mad. Where is it going to stop?

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

Here’s video of the incident

Jenrick being the loudest member of the Conservative party has already been a huge contributor to the poisoning of our politics. We really don't need any four-dimensional chess about him becoming leader. When it happens, it will be a terrible day for our country.

A Tory party under Jenrick might take a few of the racist votes from Reform, but they’d haemorrhage bucketloads to the Lib Dems.

So, on balance…

When you order a ventriloquist dummy from Temu.

It's increasingly not even basic politics anymore. It's just a bigotry pissing contest.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
It just seems so weird to me to go 'how dare these people who have faced institutional & economic prejudice and oppression for decades find somewhere with relatively cheap housing and make their home there.'
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
They're just so vindictive. They choose the moment you're at your weakest and most vulnerable to strike.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
It's a bit weird really to feel nostalgic for the proper Conservatives, the ones you could just profoundly disagree with on policy issues rather than worrying that they were a fundamental threat to British values.

Heseltine at the Tory conf:

"Fascists of the 30s are back... Trump's language coincides with words here... The immigrant has replaced the Jew as the problem. We must make clear we will never have any part in the populist extremism of Farage... We don't need Trump's mouthpiece anywhere near No. 10.”

Wasn't it a Conservative MP who said to Isabel Hardman 'I want to talk to the totty'?

Excuse me not being particularly surprised that they're keen on the idea of having some kind of young chattel around the house.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
Yeah.... but at the same time it emboldens the proportion of the population who think like that to believe it's acceptable.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
Entirely agree with redacting sources etc, but there are very odd editorial decisions being made esp about which topics are covered & how much time/focus spent on those topics. This with characters like Robbie Gibb at the helm and no transparency in a public broadcaster about how they're made.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
Jenrick isn't a Conservative, though, is he.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
I put in a prlt petition that bbc news & current affairs programmes should be minuted and those minutes made public (with employees anonymous). It was rejected on the grounds of editorial independence, but I don't see how transparency of editorial decisions restricts editorial freedom.

Unless....

That is absolutely text book.

Gold stars for Mrs Cleverly.

Reckon there is a non shit related alternative to this available from all good toy stores.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
This is the kind of deceit I can get on board with.

Also even if there is Top Secret material justifying a ban, it’s very difficult I think to argue that retired GPs and Quaker students holding up a cardboard sign are party to that information or responsible for it
alexvont.bsky.social
When Yvette Cooper was Home Sec she hinted the govt had further material justifying a ban that they couldn’t reveal because of the legal process. If so, better to get that out in daylight ASAP. Because as things stand they have clearly not made the case for proscription to the public’s satisfaction.

It can't be worse than the last year, can it.
jamesoflynn.bsky.social
Don't worry, if you miss these ones there'll probably be some more soon enough.

Sorry.... how is this not headline news?

We are so close to N.Ireland tipping back into open conflict and it just seems to be getting ignored as if it's some foreign country far away, rather than a Nation within the Union.
