imo you can't train an AI to have a long dark night of the soul

I know I know but good god imagine what the GOP would do with a Biden or Obama "we took the freedom of speech away" sound bite

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Councillor Burnside, a former cop, says when he used to do traffic enforcement on Avenue Road he wouldn't stop drivers unless they were doing 75 km/h or over.

"Maybe that was a little high," he admits. "A little high," agrees Gray.

This shouldn't be particularly surprising, but Apple's public marketing efforts would certainly have you believe that they're a slick and progressive company that would never collaborate with fascists.

Never forget what they actually are.

Still waiting for a more efficient explanation of everything than "Everyone got brain damage from Covid": the airline executives charging a $155 predatory premium for legroom, the guy deciding to customize his own flight experience, the chain of command aborting the whole flight—busted mind-traffic!

This is absolutely wild. I’m on a cross country flight. We are being diverted midway through to Denver. The reason? Some dude is sitting in the exit row who didn’t pay the $155 fee and he refuses to move back to his seat.

This is what is so frustrating about bike safety blitzes. Drivers are violating laws every damned minute of every day.

And... the blitzes to deal with them are so rare they don't exist.

ideally Americans would be a lot more up-in-arms about the overtly fascist demeanour of their federal government

I think that in an industry that has, at best, a loose attachment to reality, OpenAI is the most shameless about trying to arrogate whatever they want, without any real concern for principle or facts.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

Eh, I think the Bloomberg Odd Lots folks are kind of as high pedigree as it gets in the business journalism world.

It's kind of amazing when you're listening to serious business journalists interviewing a serious investment analyst about the AI infrastructure buildout and he sincerely says that the investment thesis is, "They're building digital God."
