The WaPo cuts are devastating. And to cut the Books section entirely makes the already bleak critical landscape even more bare. This was all preventable but Bezos, who could find the post I perpetuity without noticing it, is hellbent on destroying the Post. And for what?

They’re taking children from Minnesota and locking them up like criminals in detention camps in Texas.

For the love of God, send our kids home and bring an end to this nightmare.

I went to the nearest Barnes & Noble and awkwardly explained to someone at the help desk that I had a new book out and asked where it might be (it's genre fluid) and it was faced out (!) Then she took some pictures, had me sign their books, and said they'd already sold a copy. A win/win/win.

Welcome back to #TrilobiteTuesday!

Here is the cephalon of the "lace collar" trilobite Cryptolithus tessellatus. This comes from the Upper Ordovician Kope Formation (Lower Cincinnatian Series) in Maysville, Kentucky. What you usually find are just pieces scattered throughout the limestones.
