fuck them innocent children, don't they know it was the good guys who murdered them with drones?

Yeah, get those Obama supporters! They really brought this on!! It’s important to remain cynical and never support either party, they are exactly the same

This may shock you but some of us have problems with the operation of the federal government that transcends party identification and individual elected officials.

Reporter's notebook: I actually began working on this story shortly after footage of the incident showed up last month.

But by the time I finally got ahold of folks, the story grew: 2 *other* faith leaders I spoke with *also* reported being shot w/pepper balls while protesting this ICE facility.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

I’m not saying being mad about it now is wrong. I’m saying that proposing electing the people who also did this as a solution is wrong.

I’m glad people are aware of this, but it isn’t new. People in immigration detention were consistently moved away from their attorneys in the Biden admin. We reported on it then, but very few people cared about migrants when they weren’t a partisan tool.

ICE abducts people and then immediately moves them around to prevent access to lawyers and habeas corpus petitions. @emmarjanssen.bsky.social has the story on this consistent game being played to frustrate due process.

perhaps the biggest story TFPever ran was a catastrophically shoddy argument that George Floyd ackshully died of an overdose. When confronted with irrefutable evidence that the piece was simply wrong, Weiss didn’t take it down, she asked her critic, @radleybalko.bsky.social, to come on a podcast.

At 10am, Judge Xinis will hold a conference in Abrego Garcia’s civil (habeas) case. I’ll cover for @lawfaremedia.org. Expected mainly to be about whether to grant Abrego discovery into, e.g., how the govt chose to try to send him Uganda or Eswatini (former Swaziland). ...

Earlier today there were several FPV drone attacks as well as more shelling. It seems most crossing points between AANES and STG territory are closed and the escalation - while we see encouraging political statements - is still very worrying

man, finding out about this guy is a trip. He seems convinced death from heat stress is an issue of governments making AC hard to get, not climate change. www.thefp.com/p/i-once-tho...

BREAKING: Our client Mario Guevara, an Emmy-winning journalist detained by ICE in retaliation for livestreaming law enforcement activity, will be deported tomorrow to El Salvador.

Mario and his family are being punished for his reporting. This cruelty is meant to stifle our free press.

not even buried in the story, right there in the Dek. Several people had to read this before it published and apparently they are all deeply unwell.

If this is new to you, I'm glad you are learning about it! I highly recommend @memomiller.bsky.social 's book if you'd like to learn more. It may come as a surprise to many of you, but this has been an issue for some time, and many of us have been trying to write about it.

Because CBP defines each of the great lakes as an international waterway, thus its 100 mile enforcement zone begins at the lakeshore and extends 100 miles.
