After 3 tough warm up games we could win the series 2 - 0.

The one thing I thought Key processed was cricketing common sense. This tour has proved the opposite is true.

We invented air fryers to deal with the oven issue!

I’m a bit disappointed Potts is continuously overlooked though.

The one of the three I have the biggest question marks over is McCullum. I’d want to see evidence he was prepared to evolve, take sensible advice and become a bit firmer with some players before committing to him further.

That was their chance to move on and they blew it. Pope never has been and never will be a Test 3. Why they put so much weight on a hundred against Zimbabwe I’ll never know.

I also think they care. They just naively failed to grasp the level of the challenge they were facing and therefore were grossly underprepared. Why that should have been a surprise to them is the mystery.

Test cricket isn’t complicated. Easiest way to win is big 1st innings runs. Doesn’t matter if they’re slow or quick runs. The 2 series wins we’ve had in Australia I’ve seen have been built on that. Apply that pressure and everything else falls into place. Easier said than done, but not complicated

He will, and if there’s a vacancy at 5 or 6 he might do a decent job there, but he’s not good or tough enough to bat 3. He’s basically a very poor man’s Ian Bell.

My question is do the current regime accept and understand that. There always needs to be a balance between having a run in the team and understanding there is an end of the road if the same mistakes are made time and time again.

Agree with much of that but there is, imo, a need for some hard conversations. Pope will never be a 3. Move on. Brook, and to a lesser extent Crawley and Smith, need to be told there is a difference between being positive and reckless and there are consequences if they don’t understand that.
