The thing with Massey is another example in a different way

Among the weird conspiracy theory of it all, they were the only people who thought about the victims, their experiences and their rights to be heard

Like that's an objectively good thing but how she got there is insane

Just for clarity, the unemployment numbers under this government may look terrible, but keep in mind, Luxon has driven tens of thousands of Kiwis overseas as well, so its actually far worse. These numbers are just the ones that couldnt leave.

He definitely thinks that he's such a special snowflake that anyone else would be doing worse

He has the self awareness of the average brick

A screenshot from the article linked in the previous post. It reads as follows:

In Parliament on Wednesday, Green co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick asked the prime minister if he was aware that his cuts would impact teenagers "who may be disabled, sick or experiencing severe mental ill health".

Christopher Luxon replied: "When you go on a Jobseeker benefit, you're deemed able and capable of working."

Swarbrick retorted: "You don't understand the question."

Luxon went on to say the government was "unapologetically" sending a clear message to young people that it wants them in work, training or education.

Social Development Minister Louise Upston also defended including those with a health condition or disability under the new policy

Good of Deloitte to demonstrate why the current push by National to integrate LLMs into government departments and things like select committees is a terrible idea. Especially since it was in Australia not here #nzpol

Deloitte to refund government, admits using AI in $440k report
Deloitte will issue a partial refund to the government after admitting that artificial intelligence had been used in the creation of a report littered with errors.

It's particularly stupid that it was about automation of the welfare state, after they had to have an inquiry after the last time they did it

1. It's an idiom, not a metaphor
2. We know it's an idiom
3. The issue is that YOU, a RW govt minister, directly linked an act of individual vandalism to a LW political party without any direct evidence.
4. When have the Greens ever advocated political violence?

They specifically put everything involving money and disabled people back inside MSD

I really struggle to believe they're ignorant of the consequences of these kinds of decisions

When the PM says ‘we don’t owe them a living’, we should be clear that this is not a metaphor.

A living is life. And I want to live in a society in which it is clear that this is the least we owe each other, and are owed. 💞

I’d like us to aim for lives lived in dignity and with joy, personally 🤷‍♀️

Fucksake. It's quite clear now that they only looked at this benefit policy as political marketing and took no advice on who it would impact – which includes young people with serious health issues and disabilities. Just feckless and cynical. Shame on them. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Hundreds of teens with a health condition, disability may be cut from Jobseeker benefit
The government is ending Jobseeker payments to 18- and 19 year olds whose parents earn more than $65,000.

Never been happier to lack the ability to form mental images

And even they're not stupid enough to pick the Finance Minister when everyone is pissed about the state of the economy

I admire your optimism

I don't think they're ignorant of the impacts of this policy. I think they just don't care about them

This is the system they built and they get detailed advice about the impacts of any proposed policy

If we're talking about the general population then I'd point out that millennials are the first generation in a long time to be financially worse off than their parents at equivalent points in their lives

If we're specifically talking about disabled people, when did we care?

If it's really bad it might need a bit of wire too
