I'm a four-shaft weaver, instructor, writer and designer for Gather Textiles in Edmonton, AB.
Started reading kiddo Scarlet Morning by @gingerhaze.bsky.social this bedtime, and can I just say how hard this illustration is begging to be a collabone tattoo?
Two chapters in and already love it so much.

Literally finished some cotton warp, wool/alpaca weft spot Bronson by pouring boiling water straight from a kettle onto it cause I had a weird hunch that something cool would happen... and it did!

Killing off a very long warp with some stripey twill scarves.

@alexhanna.bsky.social and @emilymbender.bsky.social have kept me sane and grounded through the deeply weird experience of teaching essay writing at a community college during the rise of ChatGPT. I am so excited to have their book in my hands and hope to assign a chapter to next year's students.

Wanna bet the weaver added the cat because kitty kept hanging around trying to attack their weft?

When the cat is helpfully photogenic on top of something you wove

Weaving some rigid heddle pick up for the first time in ages to trial a new custom-spun yarn that we're hoping is RHL-friendly! So far, so good.

this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people

In that awkward phase of a new social media account where the algorithm is like "I see you enjoy weaving! May I interest you in a feed that is 90% knitting, 10% quilting and crochet?"

This is why you shouldn't weave through exhaustion... I pushed too hard on a weaving session, then came back with fresh arms and immediately started beating like 4 PPI harder. 😅

You can see about halfway where the beat shifts. Just walk away! Don't weave tired!

Another crackle project: simple two-block placemats.

Hi hello let me tell you about the history of hand weaving... 😂
Everyone in the past was neurotypical, which is how we got things like this single-author, eight-volume encyclopedia of ferns

Love how much variety you can pull from a crackle threading.

4-shaft Summer & Winter towels I designed for Gather Textiles' new Weave Online course. I love how the colour interactions make them look much more structurally complex than they are.

When you send a photo of a quirky historical weave structure to a friend and they ask "Can you make it into eyeballs?" and the answer is yes, yes you can.
