Checked in on the latest tape going through the teletext recovery setup, and discovered I was capturing teletext from the VBI while teletext was also in-vision on Pages From Ceefax. Very meta.

(Yes, I'll rewind when it's done and capture that, too, before you ask.)

Did you know there was an official #NFL #teletext service here in the UK (in 1991 at least)?

Even though this page is from late July, I still thought it was a nice coincidence that I recovered it from videotape in close proximity to this year's #SuperBowl.

I am now a mobile phone repairer (sort-of)!

The new power button set arrived from AliExpress, but the cameras, screen, battery, and antenna all had to be disconnected, and the motherboard entirely removed, in order to get to the buttons to replace them.

But my phone has survived the experience!

I said there'd be more wizards!

Teletext's Ten To One is next on my radar.

Are there any other Bamboozle-style quizzes you know of, that could be template-ized?

I recently posted about my Bamboozle Generator, and how nothing new had been added to it in years.

That changed today...there are now wizards (and there will be more!)

Decided to add an engineering page to Nemetext, partly for amusement, partly to genuinely keep track of which frequencies to avoid when setting my UHF modulators so I don't get interference.

My internal analogue Raspberry Pi channels are coexisting happily with broadcast Freeview in all rooms 😊

The £8 part arrived, and its purpose was to prove that the part it replaced wasn't where the fault lay 🤣

It spurred me on to extract the buttons, and now I can plainly see the issue (missing black nub).

Turns out I can buy replacement buttons AND the button pad flex for just £1.64 on AliExpress 😬

Finally plucked up the courage to try out the hot air station I bought in...*checks notes*...Feb 2024 😮

Getting this newfangled glued-on back off this old phone was disconcerting, but I did it. Now waiting for a £4 power/volume button replacement part.

If I pull this repair off, I'll be chuffed!

Made this meme ten years ago. Still true.

Typos are forgivable. We're all human. It just baffles me how anyone could interact with the text in their graphic designs quite so much - font choice, colouration, shape, kerning, etc. - and still not notice that they'd missed entire words out sometimes.

I'm very much a fan of baskets in the middle of the store. It's perfect for the thing we all do, which is to assume we definitely won't need a basket, then we subsequently realise halfway through our shop that we really should have picked up a basket, and bam, there they are, just when we need one!

*sat with family, eating food in my living room / kitchen / diner, but not bothering with the dining table this time, just perching plates on laps and/or available corners of other nearby surfaces*

"You know what this house doesn't have yet? Trays!"

Non-slip, too 😉

Briefly existed inside a Christmas card on the way to the local shop.

I've told mum and dad, this is basically my steamer now 🤣

Fits in so perfectly in my new kitchen. It lives here now!

Getting ready for new year's eve dinner ❤️

When I was picking up a few extra pressies, I couldn't resist buying myself this mini nativity. It can't be more than about two inches high. Maybe I'm choosing to let it symbolise that it's the little things that help us get through the big things?

Unexpected everyday sexism in the run up to Christmas! After I tried this out to check it was working, I needed to let off a bit of steam as well...

Well, that's the attic Christmas tree sorted.

Solar charging works with sunshine?! Well, I'll be blown!

Definitely buying this one vs. all the other products that don't explicitly state whether or not they do!

🤣

MY WEBSITE IS BACK ONLINE!

And then it'll be offline again for a few minutes, while I move my Raspberry Pi from one room to the other, and put it back where it's supposed to be living, behind the router and attached to the router UPS...

AND THEN IT'LL BE BACK ONLINE AGAIN!

Welp...so far I've:

- Shortened the lifespan of the new SD card by attempting to restore the backup image three times unsuccessfully

- Shortened the lifespan of the new SD card further by doing a fresh OS image/install twice

- Admitted defeat, as indicated by the new Google Doc lab book...

It's here...wish me luck! My Raspberry Pi server might be back online in time for Christmas.

The record to beat is eleven months...

I was already using Log2RAM, but since discovered you can stop it backing up the logs to disk every hour. So, even though this is a max endurance card, I'll do that.

Ahh, so I should've checked Webfax before thinking that the blips throwing my internal house-wide anachronistic analogue TV out of whack were anything to do with my Raspberry Pis or my aerial positioning...could have just been planned maintenance...d'oh...I've been fiddling for ages!
