Interested in native Australian plants and all the creatures that live amongst them. But Winnie the cat is not allowed near any of them. Located near Ballarat in Victoria, Australia.

Just checked on them - still as endearing as ever.

#Daucus glochidiatus, aka Australian carrot! This is a plant in the family #Apiaceae and can be anywhere from 3-60cm tall. Its flowers are impossibly tiny, only about 1.5mm in diameter with minute purple petals (which made it difficult to photograph, even with a microscope!).

Australian native plants as pollinator attractors - not sure the video captures just how busy this Callistemon is, alive with European honey bees, hover flies, native bees & other tiny critters. Late afternoon it's got several kinds of butterflies in it

The birdies love it too 😊🐝🦋

For those who love plants, many groups have been restoring the vegetation of the Adelaide Plains, once harbouring 750 species! Head east along the river towards the St Peter’s billabong. Some things in flower: Linum marginale, Goodenia amplexans (strong smell) and Malva #ESA2025

Sun orchid (Thelymitra) variations growing close together on the edge of Croajingolong NP, VIC. Thelymitra ixioides (spotted sun orchid) are common nearby but in open grassland some smaller-flowering forms are maybe closer to the very similar Thelymitra juncifolia (rush-leaf sun orchid) #orchids

🌱 Lomandra multiflora appears to be a very adaptable plant that could be more widely grown. This plant, which is now growing on a very well drained stony hill top garden was propagated from division of a plant growing in a swampy property.

Roadside onion orchids (Microtis sp.) near Genoa, East Gippsland, VIC. Maybe M. parviflora although some recent reclassifications split this widespread species into 3 x species in VIC. Tip of little finger here for scale - individual flowers are very small! #orchids #inthefield #ozplants

A very friendly dog (red cloud kelpie), her bottom square with age, is sprawled on a picnic rug as numerous small humans compete to see Who Can Pat Her Best.

This majestic White-bellied Sea-eagle was soaring above us as we did a bird count at the jetty recently. I wonder if it’s the same one of a pair that often fly over when we swim each morning at the beach 🧜‍♀️

This is happening on SUNDAY! Unfortunately, after all his hard work, Captain Quoll won't be walking (see update below) but his team will be. They're aiming to raise $35K & are just under $25K atm.

Let's give them a big push! Go you good Quolls! 🙌

Peeps in the southern half of Australia - we could be in for an aurora tonight. Fingers crossed.
In fact, the next two nights are shaping up to be excellent. No promises though.
Point your camera south after dark and try a long exposure shot.

1/ Crabeater seals are the most abundant top predator in the Southern Ocean and probably the most numerous large wild mammals on earth. Because they live almost their entire lives amongst floating sea ice around #Antarctica, it’s difficult to count them – total population is an estimated 15 million.
