After devastating fires in 1939, authorities began burning forests to reduce fuel load. But we now know this creates conditions for even worse fires.
In 1939, a Royal Commission found burning forests leads to more bushfires. But this cycle of destruction can be stopped

Listen, it’s 2025. Every national and global indicator of environmental health is going south. The planet is set for a catastrophic future. ANY decision that’s ‘good for business’ will likely lead to bad outcomes for the planet.
We are led by narrow interests, transactional politics & zero wisdom.
“Murray Watt sees his Environment Protection Reform Bill as a win for business, saying it will cut red tape, particularly in housing. He says it is also a win for the environment. He has a long way to go to convince the Coalition or the Greens it's either.” satpa.pe/4DUiKsp

Simple really. A government that coordinates with another entity it knows to be corrupt (organisation, government etc), is also corrupt.
"The Australian government has at all times known that the current Nauruan president and key members of his government are seriously corrupt, and they still signed a $2.5 billion deal with him."
Greens senator David Shoebridge reads what he alleges to be extracts from a secret AUSTRAC report that has not been made public, in the Senate late on Tuesday.

Australia Institute research shows that Australia is currently expanding fossil fuels.

We need stronger environmental laws that stop new coal and gas projects.

AI is a disaster, every step. Limited upside, existentially massive downside.
"In an internal memo from September, CEO Sam Altman said that OpenAI’s “audacious long-term goal is to build 250 gigawatts of capacity by 2033.” If Altman achieves this goal, OpenAI will need almost exactly as much electricity as India’s 1.5 billion people"

It’s pretty simple. Israel uses white phosphorus as part of its ecocide against Lebanon, to render as much of the South as possible unliveable for human beings.

They dynamite entire villages, cause forest fires with drone strikes, uproot countless olive and other trees, and kill the soil.
NEW: We’ve added 53 more white phosphorus strikes to our archive whitephosphorus.info, bringing the total to 248 verified and geolocated incidents across South #Lebanon (2023–2024).

The IDF says these were used as smokescreens, away from civilians.

Our findings show otherwise. 🧵
