Protecting people is my job. No one—not this administration, not ICE—will keep me from doing it.

I sat down with @newyorker.com to talk about why I’m not backing down in the face of political intimidation.

The other day I bitched that people always forget LaMonica McIver in their list of politicized prosecutions.

The New Yorker has a profile here, so hopefully we can change that.

The Congresswoman Criminalized for Visiting ICE Detainees
LaMonica McIver went to tour an immigration jail in her district. Now she faces seventeen years in prison.

Prior to Trump, I always thought someone could do a cutting satire of US politics with a show about a president who loses his mind while in office, and the lengths to which his party will go to justify and defend his increasingly insane pronouncements.

We’re living in that show.
Christ. We all suspected this. But the narcissistic cockalorum actually put his “if you don’t give me the Peace Prize I’ll start waging wars” threat in writing.

The petulant pillock is literally ready to kill people because he didn’t get his Special Prize.

He's not Chuck Yeager, guys. He's a crook.

Key phrase, for me: "Privately, [Weiss] has expressed alarm at many of the Administration’s actions, a person close to Weiss told me." When you look at the entirely rightwing, MAGA effect she's had on everything she touches, this can only be taken as ass-covering. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

I don't know why everyone makes fun of this guy, he seems pretty tuned in to me
The US is collapsing into fascism and going to war with Europe and the opposition party is like “I’m here to talk about the important thing: how your average grocery bill has risen by two dollars over the last year, which I also have no plan or ability to fix”

It's cool that these guys just use pepper spray casually now, against people who are wholly within their rights, without a moment's hesitation. Several shots of them using it as they climb into their cars and drive away, not even a pretense of urgency or need. Just a parting "fuck you" to them.
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

THE MAN THEY TOOK WRAPPED IN A BLANKET IS A U.S. CITIZEN.

This is the Kavanaugh Stop of all Kavanaugh Stops.
Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.

He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

I guess they keep trotting this dumb crook out to appease those few remaining MAGA choads who want to pretend Tubby doesn't hate black people.

But using Donalds and Scott Turner as spokesmen is in itself, like his former Ye alliance, a massive racist insult.

The reason the “paid protestor” accusation is so popular is that these are people who cannot imagine doing something because it’s right, to stand up for a principle, talking to other people like that.
