Its time to ensure the legitimate concerns of ethnic minorities in Britain – about a concerted effort to dissolve foundational social norms against racism + deny our status as equal citizens – are heard too

We should *reject* excessive pessimism about pushing bsck

Some people on the left have argued politics is destined to become 'blame the migrants vs blame the rich'.

Fair or not, this binary turns out to be a surprisingly useful question for dividing the country right down the middle!

Look at the generational splits, madness.

What’s happening in Gaza is not a conflict.
It’s starvation, extermination, and the denial of an entire people’s right to live all in the name of security, religion, and history.
No law is above the life of a child. No land is sacred if it’s watered with innocent blood.

The way that I was raised, being Jewish meant believing that every human life was sacred; to save a single human life meant saving all of humanity. That no law or ritual was more important than saving a single human life.

It's unfathomable that any Jew can accept what Israel is doing in Gaza.

Volunteering is not in decline. On the contrary, it is thriving in many grassroots organisations. But it is a different kind of relationship as I explain in this blog 👇

We’re living in increasingly uncertain times, and I know many Londoners are concerned by what’s taking place around the world.

I want to remind Londoners that this is your home, and you are wanted here.

You help to make London what it is—the greatest city in the world.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Morning. Happy New Year.
A while ago I ran a series of daily tweets about birdsong. The idea was to encourage people to pay attention to the natural sounds around them, and learn to identify birds from their sounds alone (which, after all, is often the only clue you get to their presence).

Hair ice. Who knew of such a thing? Apparently it needs specific conditions - temperature, humidity and a fungus which creates anti freeze proteins 😍

Writing isn't what you do after you have an idea. It's how you develop an inkling into an insight.

Turning thoughts into words sharpens reasoning. What's fuzzy in your head is clear on the page.

"I'm not a writer" shouldn't stop you from writing. Writing is a tool for thinking.
