Edinburgh-based freelance copywriter, occasional PR person, and wannabe stand up comedian and comedy writer.
This is one of my favourite things to be a guest on at the Fringe - it’s always good fun and interesting.
I’m part of two recordings this year - Saturday 2 and Friday 8 August, come along, I’ve found out loads of weird things about my chosen topics!

Writers: yes, you are still a "real" writer if you
- have never published anything
- have no readers
- didn't write anything this month
- didn't write anything this year
- can't articulate words anymore
- can only float and mournfully wail
- were murdered ten years ago on this very spot

My version of ‘Whamageddon’ is to listen to Last Xmas EVERY DAY of December because it’s a banger that makes me feel Christmassy and nostalgic and George Michael was a brilliant pop song writer and all round decent bloke.

I’ve always been a little bit sceptical about whether or not my various eye-creams were actually doing much. Then I forgot to use them for a few days and discovered that while such lotions and potions don’t necessarily make you look younger, they DO stop you looking totally haggard and prune like…

My 2024 non-work writing goals are pretty similar to my 2023 non-work writing goals.
(Actually they are identical because, unfortunately, procrastination is my special talent.)

Progress report - I’ve actually written 800 words, only around 2,000 and several edits to go!
For the last year or so I’ve been faffing about with an idea for a piece of (non-work) writing, but have not really got beyond making notes.
I’m now challenging myself to write and submit the piece by the end of the year.
I’m posting this to try and make myself accountable!

Ken’s Sunday blogs were something I always looked forward to over on the Other Place, so it’s fitting and good that his post linking to this week’s blog was one of the first things I saw over here…
Give it a read and enjoy the lovely cosy feelings it evokes.
