I've been helping to mentor these 8 teenage playwrights for a few months now. Today, thanks to Fighting Words, The Linenhall Arts Centre and Others, professional actors and directors will finish their long weekend of prep with a rehearsed reading. Come and see, if you're in the vicinity.

In 2018 I did a Story Cubes workshop with some 8-12 year olds. We threw the dice and got an Apple, a Car, a Lock, a lightning bolt, and a Vampire and then we made up a story together and I went off and wrote it. I don't think I've read it since but darned if it didn't just bring a wee tear to my eye

I keep hearing 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' round the classical music radio channels. It always reminds me of Mike Oldfield's Etude from the end credits of Killing Fields, which impressed me at the time and which I then thought was an original tune.

Rewatched the start of Quantum of Solace. I've never been a fan of the multiple jump cuts. It seems clear that the pre-title sequence ended about five minutes too early. Perhaps on account of the short overall run time.

I've given up 90% of the sugary rubbish I used to eat but a huge challenge awaits. Will I be able to stay away from the trashy two-for-one boxes of mince pies in the supermarket? This is going to be tough.
