If people are shouting at R3, things are bad.
Tell me again what sort of "glorious, uplifting music is guaranteed to propel me through the weekend," Radio 3. Go on. I f***ing double-dare you. Some of us suckers have to work weekends, so unless I can pay my council tax with John Wilson's bang-average recording of Rach 2, pipe the flip down.

1974? No.
1984? Nope
1994? Try again.

2024, ladies and gentlemen. 2024.

I’m unilaterally re-naming what I’m listening to “Obsequiousness At One”.

No. This has to be non-news. There’s not enough time to tally being cross with the news.
Can I include any and all news programmes?

A celebrity I’m a big fan of seems to be dying his hair while sporting a decidedly-more-salt-than-pepper beard. Hmm. Why am I disappointed?

Might start keeping a tally on how often I shout “fuck off!” at the radio.

German is the main language of Switzerland.

Thanks, Clair. Cliched as it may be, it’s nice to be nominated; whether we win or not. #Sedaris
@stevedoherty.bsky.social Bloody well done on your BBC award nomination. You and David deserve it in spades x

There’s one very senior BBC editor (regularly on tv and radio - no names) who always gives the impression he won his job in a raffle.

More troublesome is that, fundamentally, Starmer has no verbal facility. Were he to deliver a speech like Carney’s, it would still *sound* awful.
I think you can explain a lot about Starmer by his clear belief that the average voter and the average MP are unreceptive to anything other than very very simple statements with a clear bottom line for them personally. Utter contempt for the moral and mental capacity of the people he’s talking to.

"Meanwhile, Princess Anne went for a ride in Kirkbride, Queen Camilla went shopping in Wapping, Prince Edward dropped a clanger in Bangor, and the young ladies of Buckingham asked Prince Andrew if he'd mind staying at home.

Now it's goodnight from me ...
... and it's goodnight from him."

Radio 3 are playing Vaughan Williams’ “Overture to the Wasp” and it’s coming across more pro-wasp than I expected, to be honest.
