there’s something about the “watch the video and decide for yourself what it shows” argument that unsettles me, and i think it’s partly because if all journalists are going to do is gather phone video off social media and show it to us, then… what do we need journalists for?

First live comedy I ever saw as a teen in Coventry. 1985? Maybe 86.
Channel 4's complaint-baiting edgy late-night comedy sketch show Who Dares Wins. Genuinely rock star massive at the time but barely ever even mentioned now. Even by pandas.

I’ve spent most of my adult life overweight and (physically) rather lazy. Got two “walking poles” for Christmas and, my god, what a difference it makes.

Warning: violent images

I’m very cautious about sharing this kind of thing but the actions in Minnesota and the response of the US government are terrifying. And BBC reports are doing that “both sides” thing. And there’s clearly only one truth, well analysed here.

If people are shouting at R3, things are bad.
Tell me again what sort of "glorious, uplifting music is guaranteed to propel me through the weekend," Radio 3. Go on. I f***ing double-dare you. Some of us suckers have to work weekends, so unless I can pay my council tax with John Wilson's bang-average recording of Rach 2, pipe the flip down.

1984? Nope
1994? Try again.

2024, ladies and gentlemen. 2024.

I’m unilaterally re-naming what I’m listening to “Obsequiousness At One”.

No. This has to be non-news. There’s not enough time to tally being cross with the news.
Can I include any and all news programmes?

A celebrity I’m a big fan of seems to be dying his hair while sporting a decidedly-more-salt-than-pepper beard. Hmm. Why am I disappointed?

Might start keeping a tally on how often I shout “fuck off!” at the radio.

Thanks, Clair. Cliched as it may be, it’s nice to be nominated; whether we win or not. #Sedaris
@stevedoherty.bsky.social Bloody well done on your BBC award nomination. You and David deserve it in spades x

There’s one very senior BBC editor (regularly on tv and radio - no names) who always gives the impression he won his job in a raffle.
