I don’t really know what my point is here other than grief is messy, I shouldn’t hold people to unreasonable expectations they don’t know I have, and I wish we had a secular yahrzeit tradition in America.

Wanted to know that people remembered her, it was a real gut punch in a very unreasonable way not to hear from more than a handful of people. My in-laws. My husband. My two best friends. My stepsister. No one from my mom’s extended circle of friends and family.
