Changes to Oklahoma’s curriculum rules make it so teachers aren’t supposed to tell students that the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 — a defining incident of racial violence in Oklahoma history — was perpetrated by racists.

This skeet hit me hard after a particularly rough therapy session. I’ve never actually watched this clip, so I did just now. I can see how far I’ve come from my darkest days, but I still have a ways to go. Hope you’re holding up okay.

The German company that makes the mechanical ladder used in the Louvre heist has used the image to advertise, with the text 'When you need to move fast'

WOW: "Covid-19 vaccines... set off a powerful alarm that rallies the human immune system against cancer and nearly doubles the median survival length of patients, according to a new retrospective study by researchers at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center & the University of Florida."
NEW STUDY PUBLISHED IN NATURE: People who got an mRNA COVID vaccine within ~3 months before or after starting immunotherapy for cancer lived longer overall than those who didn’t get the vaccine.

The Massey Ferguson tractor bit had me crying with laughter.
Update: I was correct. I'm snorting with laughter after being <verbed> by the horse and losing the game on the first go-through. AGAIN
This seems like an excellent furlough game to play.
Good morning! Its a whole new week! What better way to start the week than by playing the game described as "I became genuinely worried how much I wanted to strangle the horse" and "is there even a horse in this?"

i will strangle a horse

A game. By me.

I have been traveling and today I present to you...the thing I saw in the Frankfurt airport.

Is it efficient? Undeniably. Does it probably work better than the normal way? Oh certainly. Produce less of a mess? Probably?

But the existence of Condiment Udders gives me a deep, aghast disquiet.
Day seven of furlough: two furloughed friends came over and we played board games while eating a pantry meal of a lentil salad. Saving money while having fun! Also - no nap today. Yet.

Did you know, it’s 30 years to the day since the Financial Times killed one of Britain’s finest poets? They didn’t mean to. It’s just that Gavin Ewart was 79, and – according to legend – the day before they’d bought him a lunch that involved enough booze to fell an ox 🧵

I have a fascination for ancient jewellery.
This wide Anglo-Saxon ring features the rare prolapis lazuli.
Scene: my oldest is sitting on the bench awaiting his turn to bat in the community rec league for baseball. He just turned to the other kids and asked, “Do you know who David S. Pumpkins is? From SNL?”

We’ve created a nerd.
Day six of furlough: I napped at a friend’s house. Anyone detecting a theme here?

I shouldn’t have to have someone interpret tattoos on a half naked white man sitting for an interview before we all agree this is absolutely absurd and we all need to just move on from this guy.

You cannot expect Black or Jewish people to put with this fucking ridiculous nonsense. Come on now
1. Celtic knot and ancient wolf don't make it any better.

2. Now everyone has seen the 1919 on his right arm.
That last bit tracks entirely with my experience at Wash U as an undergrad. “As is.” Oh boy.

Guys, there's no evidence ICE is buying guided warheads. The contract in question is for normal distraction devices, the kind they've been using for years.
I'm seeing a lot of people claiming ICE has guided warheads. This seems to be based on a Substack newsletter which as best I can tell was referring to this contract. This contract is for distraction devices (sound grenades), but the PSC is for guided warheads

Ok this seems weird to me, but given the alarming number of men who don’t even wash their hands or their buttholes, I don’t have time to fight this one.

I guess I'm the wrong person to commentate on this because I'm a Harvard College alum, but then again I'm Black and from East L.A. and live just miles from the Maine border and I think it's important for everyone to understand that there are lots of working class heroes who don't have Nazi tattoos
Seriously, why are you insulting people's intelligence like this. There is very obviously a massive excluded middle between "bland Ivy League corporate automaton" and "still has large Nazi tattoo." There's nothing wrong with having found him appealing. He was! But it's over and this is silly
…hello. I may need to watch that. For um, research.

Have you ever seen the 1995 Ian McKellan version of Richard III? It’s a masterpiece.
