I told an interviewer a few days ago I’m too feral for office work. So brewing it is, a field where a local brewery is looking for a brewer with 2 degrees, several years of experience, microbiology, packaging, brewing, logistics, recipe development, &c. for $55,000 a year. Less than a living wage.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

People, I saw a gosh darn dinosaur in the Humber this morning.
A blue heron, I believe, wading in shallow water.

By giving it to someone who supported killing those fishermen?
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado welcomed the US strike, describing it as legitimate pressure. She interpreted it as a direct attack on the government, which she said would be overthrown before long.

Hahaha OMG the Ontario Craft Brewers are having a session on using AI to supercharge a brewery’s social media. How the fuck can we sell a handcrafted, artisanal product using goddamn slop?
One of the sessions at the OCB’s conference is:

hands up if you are a true bug and suck sap from plants
Shivaphis celti, the Asian woolly hackberry aphid, also known as Shivaphis (Shivaphis) celti, is an aphid in the superfamily Aphidoidea in the order Hemiptera. It is a true bug and sucks sap from plants.

Pictured is schivapis celti, a small white bug that looks like a speck of lint, sitting on a leaf

I did an interview about Indigenous folks in brewing today. I hope I came off better than my usual goofy self because it’s an important topic. And I took some pics of the tasting room buildout. I really hope I get to do some collabs and / or have a beer with ya’ll soon.
A storefront with light streaming in from a window in the right. Looks kinda rough. Especially with the bars in the window. A pile of random construction materials. Plus a lamp. A view from the tasting room into the brewery. The floor looks hella rough with some old carpet and older vinyl tiles having been pulled up. A view from deeper in the tasting that shows the entrance to the washrooms on the left, the pile of cruft on the right, and the sunny window.

Y'all.

Lakotaman is currently using the colonial tactic of Indian Removal on all other Lakotamen. He's weaponized his mostly white followers to attack other Natives and get them banned.

IF YOU'RE FOLLOWING LAKOTAMAN YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

We were talking about having a Ghibli marathon over Christmas, and both kids said, “But maybe not Grave of the Fireflies.” It’s one of the rawest depictions of war I’ve ever seen.

Discworld QOTD, from Snuff
Aristocrats don't notice philosophical conundra. They just ignore them. Philosophy includes contemplating the possibility that you might be wrong, sir, and a real aristocrat knows that he is always right. It's not vanity, you understand, it's built-in absolute certainty. They may sometimes be as mad as a hatful of spoons, but they are always definitely and certainly mad.

I was following one beer person on Threads who started posting wildly anti-Indigenous / pro-genocide dreck and then my entire feed became a firehose of anti-Indigenous pro-genocide dreck. It’s a rage machine. FFS, am I going to have to talk to people in person for industry gossip?

TBH, I think the reason chuds talk about AI having human rights is so that data centres can take an immense amount of resources from actual humans with impunity.

I worked at E*Trade Canada around the time your book came out. Can confirm. The cats who were compulsively trading on small-ish portfolios mostly saw their profits eaten up by fees and taxes. The guys who bought AAPL and sat on it are all comfortably retired.
