The absolutely awesome Canadian author, Robert J. Sawyer has written quite a few Indigenous characters into his books. He has even waxed philosophical about Indigenous relationships to land without ever needing to present himself as Indigenous. (apihtawikosisan.com/2012/01/ques...)
Questioning assumptions, Sawyer did it, will you?
I’ve been reading a lot of Robert J. Sawyer lately, because as pointed out by Adam Shaftoe and Matt Moore in the fall 2011 On Spec, he’s a Canadian Sci-Fi author who is surprisingly opt…

Here is a list (updated Oct 2025) of libraries who offer cards to non-residents.

I checked my library (non-resident cards available) and 2 of Krista's books are available as an ebook.

And if the library doesn't have the book you want, you can request they acquire it!

Oh hell, Jimmy Cliff has passed. I can’t overstate how important this man was to much of the music I love, both with his own work and with his influence. Without him, the soundtrack of my life would be much less joyous. Rest in power.

two other quick points:
1) if people are setting plastic change tables on fire, perhaps replace them with metal ones.
2) $28,000 per year in repairs is around 0.05% of the $50 million annual budget increase requested by the VPD, and more cops will not address the root causes of vandalism

Indian, when used by a non-Native to describe us, is derogatory. Many of consider it to be a contextual slur.

WE will it: Indian Country, Indian hospital, when referring to ourselves and others Natives. But no one else should be using it to describe us!
