Thanksgiving is not a colonial/Pilgrim holiday. Itโ€™s a Civil War holiday. & we think otherwise in part because of the Lost Cause. ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ

There are so many things to be angry about right now, that I find it especially egregious that the film โ€œA House of Dynamiteโ€ was so infuriating. Et tu, Bigelow?

late-breaking contender for the word of 2025: lizza, verb

lizzaโ€™ed, lizzaโ€™ing.

transitive verb

1) to sully oneโ€™s own reputation while sullying someone elseโ€™s reputation, but doing greater damage to oneโ€™s own reputation.
2) to suck, generally.

Trumpโ€™s comments are vile. I am just as angry at the media outlets that bothsided Jamalโ€™s murder, wrote puff pieces for MBS (Atlantic).

And, the Washington Post opinion page that dismantled the platform that Jamal wrote for, ended the fellowship in his name, and purged its human rights writers.

The NYT feature noted that the press pushed the pub up by 3 weeks (so she would not compete with Cheryl Hines). That's not a ton of time, but maybe they skipped a copyedit or three?

The answer is coming from inside the question.

I stopped giving money to Harvard years ago because of their consistent policy of doing almost nothing to punish proven sexual assaulters and bullies among the faculty.

At most, they will announce that he is "on leave" in the spring. He'll still get paid, of course.
Per CNN, Elizabeth Warren is calling on Harvard to cut ties with Larry Summers after Jeffrey Epstein's emails released last week by House Dems featured Summers making sexist comments + asking for Epsteinโ€™s romantic advice.

There is so much ick happening in this piece, and Summersโ€™ behavior is disgusting and enraging.

Kudos to Patel and Srivastava for excellent reporting.

Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but itโ€™s just so, so pernicious. Itโ€™s awful to the women directly involved, but itโ€™s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

This.
The reason why most women my age couldn't care less if Bill Clinton goes down with the ship is that we were teens & young women when the Anita Hill and Monica Lewinsky scandals happened. It's rotten to the core. All the way down. Your "lost" era is not ours.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

Given where I live and the kind of work I do, I don't run into those people very often. But I would point out that the vast majority of arrests involve innocent people. And ask if they would spend even one minute in one of those detention centers. Anyone who supports these actions should have to.

This will be one of the iconic photographs of this time in US history.
This picture says everything about the state of our nation right now, peaceful clergy being arrested and forced face-down on the pavement.

This.
Nuzzi's fawning coverage of the sociopathic conspiracy crank she was having an affair with aided his rise to political power, which he is using to perpetrate the worst intentional public health catastrophe of our unnecessarily shortened lifetimes, and THAT is the STORY.
