Brewer. Red River Métis and citizen of the MMF. He / him. Currently battling one of life’s least dangerous cancers, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Same! Older system with Outback Solar. The kids get a kick out of there being hot water, heat, cold food and wifi through 12+ hour power outages while the neighbours descend into barbarism.

Hey — Phoebe. I have an older Canon RP (full frame mirrorless). It can use EF lenses with an adapter as well as modern R lenses. Would sell at a steep discount for an uptick in cat photos.

The only thing I have to add is that I maybe pumped my fist a little bit when @premeemohamed.com dropped a Taco Time into a book. It’s cool to see a piece of home mentioned. Toronto references don’t hit the same for me even though I’ve lived here longer than I did in the Prairies.

Je ne regrette rien.

I think a bunch of straight white guys believe that, if someone who’s not like them can do the thing, it can’t be that hard. Since doing the thing is easy, it’s not worth paying someone to do it. It’s not even worth the effort to learn to do it.

The downside is that you’d have to be my guest QA associate for the day and have to sample a fair number of beers. For science.

If you’re in Toronto in 2026, I can give you a free lesson in how to make beer. It’ll take a few weeks to be ready, but I can maybe have @phoebebarton.bsky.social write up proper tasting notes when it’s done.

“The numbers at the parks are down. Way down. They’ve never been this low. They just aren’t pulling their weight.” Cue the chainsaws and explosives.

It’s always a little alarming to me when cute little kitties show off a rather shocking number of weapons. Casually. Possibly as a reminder of whose house this really is.

Wait. There’s an Indigenous-owned bar on the Danforth? Daaaamn, gonna have to check out C.C.’s. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve never seen turkey in a Mexican restaurant… and Mexicans domesticated turkeys.

My kid recently finished her master’s at the U of A. It was abundantly, and sometimes humorously, clear that our connection to the Red River Métis had been vetted well beyond flashing an MMF card. It shouldn’t be so hard for a publisher to do the same.

Oof. And it’s almost always pretendians claiming to be Cherokee or Métis, and that panel had both.

3 years ago. We bought an ikea fridge since it had a decent warranty and no smart features. Very tough combination to find.

Here is a list (updated Oct 2025) of libraries who offer cards to non-residents.

I checked my library (non-resident cards available) and 2 of Krista's books are available as an ebook.

And if the library doesn't have the book you want, you can request they acquire it!
