More mushrooms? More mushrooms!
Yesterday was sweet tooth's (similar to hedgehogs but larger) in butter, sage and cognac to top butternut ravioli (purchased).

Today it's a ricotta onion custard tart w/roasted matsutakes.

(and yes, those are light saber electric pepper grinders)

Today is the stock from carcasses and parts* and veggie scraps.

*Livers join the ongoing collection for my annual mostly chicken liver mousse.

A happy accident: the many pomme pie, crumb topping with homemade cinnamon ice cream (not an accident). Delicious and unexpectedly lovely from the variegated shades from cream to pink.

It was supposed be pink apple and quince, but my quince had mostly turned - short nearly half a pie! (1/2)

Did I get more mushrooms? Yes, reader, I did.

These are destined for tomorrow's stuffing.

Homemade saba from some of this year's grape harvest. Toughest part is straining the solids from the juice before cooking.

Struggled a little with thick consistency but easy fix adding a bit of water back to thin.

May try simple versus next year.

No, I will not be making wine.

The giant white mulberry we have in front keeps me busy. Most leaves fall on concrete/gravel so I can't let them lie.

This is about 1-2 days worth. It's almost done so is slowing down a bit.

Not the prettiest picture but it is so ugly delicious.

Peak PNW fall feel. The stems and some of the hedgehog mushrooms going in risotto; caps becoming sautéed mushroom "ragu" on top. Banger OR Pinot Noir from Walter Scott.
Very last of the garden baby zucchini and squash on the side.

The efforts & funds are for supporting impacted residents. Good.

Yet while comparing immigration officials’ "infliction of fear and distress in the community to acts of terror", they are still allowing it. Bad.

Not standing up to terror only enables it.

All creatures great and small, and a massive number of people, out showing solidarity and love in Beaverton's #NoKings march!

These were some of the best signs, and we had a full menagerie who love America and Democracy at Beaverton's #NoKings march!

Crowd in Beaverton OR #NoKings protest so much larger than las time - easily 2-3xs. Couldn't ask for a better birthday party!

I imagine this parade must make Speaker Johnson quake in his boots!

True! I realized I'd kick if it had turned, so went ahead with flashlight harvest.
The basil is doing well in its bucket of water. The thai basil was starting to wilt in its bucket so I've tried cutting to single stems and putting in fresh water. Thai basil pesto may be this morning's chore.

Our fight continues. We've had to fend off the basil as well.

The only war here is waged by our tomatoes, attempting to overwhelm us by sheer numbers. We have stayed vigilant against the horde by roasting, BLTs, tomato sandwiches, sauce, varying salads, used in cooking, & gifting away!
