20 Sept 1943 // Corvette HMS Polyanthus was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine U.952 while on convoy escort duty SE of Greenland. 84 of her 85 crew lost their lives. The only survivor died three days later when the ship that rescued him, HMS Itchen, was also sunk. #RoyalNavy #NavalHistory #WW2
