Fountain pen of the day:

A classic model from a less known German brand (less than Kaweko, Lamy or Montblanc, that’s it). The Diplomat Aero, in Stripes Black. It’s an interesting design in aluminum, with a solid and smooth nib.

A Hongdian 1845 brass fountain pen, chromium plated. It’s a heavy model, with good quality and nib. Better than the current models of well established brands, but not the best from this Chinese manufacturer…

From Ferris Wheel Press, this is a curious design, the Bijou in Capitain Earl Grayson. This model has a very simple model, leaving all the detail to the grip section and the nib. It’s comfortable to use and with a good quality nib.

A nice piston filler from China, this is a Hongdian N7 in blue. The pen has a peacock motive. It has a good and smooth nib and good ink capacity. A little on the heavy side by very reliable.

Avery recent addition to my collection, this a Wancher World Tree, in red sandalwood. The pen is quite light and good looking, with an special Keryu nib, artisanal adjusted. It’s buttery smooth. Kudos to Wancher for the attention to detail.

From Hongdian, this is one of my favorite models from the brand. The N6 in black metal with a red cap ring. It’s a shorter piston filler with a long blade nib, that gives naturally line variation. Very good quality and feeling, with an original design.

From Nahvalur, a classic design, the Bautilus. This is a red and black ebonite pen, the Stylophora Berry. An original design, with a piston filler system and 3 ink windows. My only peeve is that it doesn’t posts, but is comfortable enough. Has a good medium nib.

From Taiwan, this is a Laban, the Rosa Blue Marble edition. It’s a nice blue cracked acrylic, with a fine, smooth steel nib. The pen is very comfortable. It’s a little expensive for the materials. More than double the price of an Asvine P20, but it’s a good quality pen.

One of my oldest pens, this is a Parker Duofold junior, the jade pearl, from 1931. The body and filling system were as good as new, even if it has no nib. The seller replaced it with a 1936 Parker Vacumatic. It holds a good amount of ink, and the nib is smooth.

From India, this is a more known brand, but not as fancy as Magna Carta (I can’t get one) or Ranga (I got plenty from them), this is a Kanwrite Legacy in dark solid blue. It feels a little cheap with thin resin, and comes with a very thin flex nib and a medium. It’s good.

An exotic one, at least from Mexico, this is a Turkish pen, the Kilk Epigram. It’s a nice resin pen in blue and white swirls and a silver ring with the legend “Vincit Omnia Veritas” (Latin for truth conquers all) very smooth writer and an original design.

A more modern take from Pilot economy line, the Pilot Explorer, in silver. It is a plastic pen, with the same nib as the Metropolitan. This is a lightweight and reliable model, and I suspect that the metallic box is more expensive than the pen. Anyway, cool design.

A two for one, this pens are quite similar in the shape, from two reputable brands, even if the final experience is very different. The Montblanc Meisterstück 144 and a Sailor 1911 S. A longer description in the caption…

A very late fountain pen of the day:

A very nice design by Hongdian, the 660, in ebony. This wooden pen feels great and has a good nib and design. I like how Chinese manufacturers use different materials for their models. It’s an smooth writer.

From Hongdian, this is a not so hot looking model (even in a hot pink color), this is the N10, a piston filler pen, with an ebonite feed and a smooth number six steel nib. This is a great quality model and although I don’t like much the pattern, de design is quite good.

This is a simple, but well designed model, and also my first fountain pen, the Cross ATX, in matte black. 20 years ago, I found a nice pen shop in Mexico City downtown, and got hooked on…

A Hongdian 1845 Navigator, a variant of their famous Black Forest series. This one is an aluminum pen in brown, with a smooth fine steel nib. Hongdian is a very reliable brand, that dares to make original models. The Black Forest line is a solid choice for a beginner.

A 1949 Sheaffer Crest Deluxe. This is a curious fountain pen, with the famous Triumph nib and gold cap, with the touchdown filling system. It’s a smooth and reliable pen, light and elegant.

Fountain pen of the day:

A very basic one, this is the Schmidt
Intrinsic pen. It had, obviously, a nice Schmidt nib, in a light aluminum body. It’s little more than a nib and converter vehicle, but it does a good job with a very reliable nib.

In the spirit of the day, and with Día de Muertos the Sunday, I present you the Montegrappa Fortuna Skull, a nice steel nib pen with skulls in the body and the cap, with a little onyx. It’s a good writer, a little heavy, but also expensive for a steel nib.

This time, it’s a little more vintage than the last one. A 1946 Parker Vacumatic jr., the Azure Blue Pearl. This pen is a 1942-1947 model, with just one jewel, a 14k gold nib and a celluloid lever instead of a metallic one, because of the war. Superb writer.

This is a 1999 Waterman Le Man 200 the Rhapsody red riple variant, in hard rubber and electroplated gold. It’s a very nice pen with a 18k gold nib. Great writer, much better than anything Waterman has been doing lately.

The Pelikan Jazz Nobles Elegance (what a name!) in gold and white. This is a cheap pen with more or less quality. It isn’t a Souverain, but it’s worth for the price. The nib is smooth, after some maintenance…

From Chinese PENBBS brand, one of their well liked model, the 308, a cartridge converter pen, with a nice nib. This pen comes in a big variety of colors and is a very good writer. I don’t know if something happened to this brand, that I don’t hear much about anymore.
