And, honestly, I think I'm enjoying it all the more thanks to the fact that I've managed to largely ignore the overbearing wave of negativity out there prior to the game coming out.
Life is just much more fun when you drown out the venomous voices online and just do what you love.

Pokémon Legends Z-A has been so much fun over the last few days, I never clicked with Legends Arceus because it felt so removed from the battling aspect of Pokémon, but Z-A's gameplay loop of battling and catching is really doing it for me.

Another one in the bag for 2025, Assassins Creed Shadows has been completed. Overall the game is great, especially when it comes to the stealth gameplay, which carries the game hard - but like most modern AC it is super bloated and the story peters out and ends on frustrating wet fart.

I went ahead and played through all of Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddy's Kong Quest right after beating DKC1, and boy, what a huge improvement.
Tighter controls, better levels, a generally fairer feeling game top to bottom - great example of a sequel elevating without redefining.

The weekends off to a good start, just rolled credits on Donkey Kong Country - still holds a special place in my heart, but maybe this one hasn't aged quite as well as other Nintendo platformers on the SNES, it's just not quite as tight and so full of gotcha trap moments.
I'd give it a 3.5 / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
