Consider - my parents were faced with this same realization when I was a boy and moved us from Brazil to the USA when I was 5(ish). They dealt with this.
My father never got his sea-legs and returned to BR while my mother stayed in the US as a single mother with 3 children.
It’s a weird time rn.
