Views are my own, blah blah blah.

Big fan of model trains, tiki bars, and general electronic doohickeys.

He/him
(It is also believed by many tribes to be a cure for syphilis, although I don't mention that part lmao)

A bonus is that I now know extremely niche plant facts.

For example, the African Sausage Tree (real tree, there's one by Schweitzer Falls) has potato-shaped fruit that is poisonous if you eat it raw.

It is used as traditional medicine and a common superstition is that it wards off tornadoes

Hahahaha thankfully nobody called me out on it. A manager heard me call it the Ghost Town and Calico Railroad and I thought I was going to get into trouble but they just smirked
January 15, 2026 at 8:04 AM
Honestly it wasn't too bad. I memorized the spiel as a backup because it's handy to have if the ride breaks down. You can talk about plants and answer questions for a lot longer than you can tell jokes haha
January 15, 2026 at 8:03 AM
A couple times I worked April Fool's as a Jungle Cruise skipper and I told the non-joke spiel all day. I just gave people real facts about the plants and animals they saw and didn't tell any jokes. (You're still allowed to do that!)
Shout-out to the like 4 guests that understood what I was doing lol

I would also thank guests for traveling aboard the Ghost Town and Calico Railroad as we pulled into Main Street

When I worked the Disneyland Railroad on April Fool's Day, I would list extinct attractions as we pulled into every station.

"We're now pulling into New Orleans Square station, your stop for Country Bear Jamboree, the Mike Fink Keel Boats, and Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland"

I was a Tomorrowland CM then, I remember hearing stories from the Subs CMs.

From memory, as part of "shit we should probably actually refurbish the subs" they built a bridge to connect the dock to the spur line, but they didn't build it high enough and when they ran a sub through it hit the bridge

It was supposed to be turned into a Star Wars speederbike chase ride, with Auto + Nemo closed and turned into an Endor mini-land. They went as far as closing Nemo in 2014 for "refurbishment" (really closure) and then when they pivoted to Galaxy's Edge instead they had to panic-refurbish Nemo lol

KS still exists for the initial release, at least in my experience

"Dems won't do the thing that you want them to do!"

"Well, then I won't vote for them then"

"ARE YOU CRAZY??? YOU WANT THE FASCISTS TO WIN????"

idk maybe they should listen to what we want if we're so important then

and if they don't need us to win, then they can't blame us for losing

Maybe worth letting @hailey.at know so she can double-check? If it's a legit bug it might be affecting the other labels too
January 12, 2026 at 5:52 AM
Side effect of wait times being based in Florida - there was a big hurricane a few years back that knocked out WDW's phone service.

DL couldn't call DOCC to update wait times or tell people rides were broken down.

Some attractions could do it from the computer but not all of them
January 12, 2026 at 5:50 AM
Shoutout to Michael at DOCC, he was the GOAT

One time he came to visit us at Disneyland and we hooked him up lmao

Looking at it (the labeler is open-source) it's SUPPOSED to fall off after 48 hours. Looks like you've had it for 15 days. So it might be a bug?

The other explanation is that the sentiment analysis really likes to flag you as "toxic" for some reason (that's done with ML so pretty much a black box)
January 12, 2026 at 5:41 AM
IMO "really" the problem is the follow record.

Follows should just be treated like any other list, including on Bluesky.

The "Following" feed is just a view of a list.

If you join another app (and I'd argue Bluesky should do this too), you choose which list view you want. Shitposts, news, other?

Sadly LA's mayor is pretty weak compared to the NYC mayor. Most of the power here is with the City Council AFAIK

Lots and lots and lots of UK/German politicians have been mysteriously getting verified here over the weekend, according to @verified.pds.mmatt.net, e.g.

Also notice how quickly soot built up on the monorail beam where it crosses the railroad tracks!
Only 3 months of use and there's already blackening under the beam

That's the Holiday 2 (freight train) on the DLRR, but it's missing the caboose!

I think they added car 207 in 1959, and looks like there's 7 cars here.

I wonder if 207 is the last car on this train and they were running it instead of the caboose for some reason

"I have done things kinda like XYZ before, so surely me doing XYZ won't be a lot of trouble" works great until you wind up with 3 desktop environments installed at once or need to type "Yes, do as I say!"

But everyone does it at least once when they get started with Linux, especially Arch!
January 10, 2026 at 7:17 PM
VERY bold move starting with an Arch-based distro!

I think everyone does it, haha. Sometimes they start with Mint or Ubuntu, go to Arch, play around with something, that thing breaks their whole machine, then they either install Mint/Bazzite or go back to Windows and complain about Linux users ;)
