Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

No. The Medicaid portals were shut down because the OMB demanded they be. They’re only back up because of the outcry. I’d tell you to stop lying but we know that’s a feature of this administration.

Look, unilaterally cutting off federal grants and funding is likely unlawful. I’ve talked to a lot of people today who would like their voices heard on this.
I tried calling the White House, but their public comment line is closed.
They don’t want to hear from you, but I do.

Tim is wrong here. That’s not why he’s doing this. He’s doing it to show that he is king and he can do anything, no matter how unlawful, his way. And he wants to do shock and awe in his first couple of weeks. If Democrats in the Senate respond in a namby-pamby way, he’ll get away with it.
Kaine: "The president has two Republican houses. If he wants to cut the budget, he's go majorities in both houses. He could just work with them to do it the lawful way...that he's not doing that means he doesn't have confidence that the GOP leadership will go along with the extremity of his actions"

BREAKING: A federal judge temporarily blocks the Trump administration from freezing all federal grants and loans until at least next Monday as litigation plays out.

A D.C. judged enters an injunction preventing Trump's across-the-board budget freeze from going into effect. He finds irreparable hard and enters a brief (c 3 day) stay to litigate lawfulness of freeze. This is headed to the US Supreme Court, and in short order

This is almost such an obvious point, it feels slightly crazy to point it out, but a politician winning a national election does not mean that the criticisms of that politician were wrong. Nixon and Bush both go reelected and everything their most unsparing critics said about them was right.
