The only interesting thing I do is go to food shows where I eat too many olives.
It's probably not healthy, but watching Jake Paul get rocked by Anthony Joshua cheers me to no end

An intern saying this I could forgive, but if you're chief of staff to the president, you should fucking know this shit.
She hates them all, she tells herself...hates the chaos, hates the cruelty, but hey, what's a gal to do? You don't choose to be born to a rich and famous alcoholic father, you just make it work. You don't choose to be a Republican operative at a time of rising authoritarianism, you just make it work

I started a new job about six months ago, and every morning I get an industry update report. Every single one has basically said this sector of the economy is contracting hard, if not fully going away in a few years, which feels great for my job security.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Are Democrats finally realizing they need to work on local level races, and not just the top of the ballot?
Partial list of local-county govs Dems flipped:
—NY: Dutchess County legislature
—NY: Onondaga County leg
—PA: Erie County executive
—PA: Luzerne County board
—PA: Bucks County DA, sheriff
—CT: mayors of Bristol, Milford, New Britain, Stratford
(Maybe: Aurora CO, council)

Surely missing a lot!

Importantly, law does *not* apply to cities; NY has to amend its constitution for that.

New York City is actually voting on a measure *next month* to move its own elections to even year — that'd be a huge change in NYC, though one that'd still demand state action. I explained:
To Boost Turnout, Ballot Measure Proposes Moving New York City Elections to Even Years - Bolts
When cities hold their local elections on off years, they tend to see terrible turnout. Many are rescheduling their contests when many more people go to the polls. Will New York be next?

New Yorkers won't just be electing a new mayor come November. Six measures that could ultimately amend the state’s constitution and revise the city charter will also be on the ballot.

If this is true, I worry about Coney Island. No way the permits don't get used, so now I believe it's down to either Coney Island or Flushing Meadows (assuming Aqueduct and Yonkers get theirs to expand the existing spaces)
Wooooooooooooow: Both the Times Square and Hudson Yard casino permits get nixed
wow, per our reporter Lauren Hartley who is at the hearing now, the Avenir proposal (for the Hudson Yards area) was also just voted down.

Why did it take this long? Shouldn't it come automatically with winning the Democratic primary?
It's an honor to earn the endorsement of the Bronx Democratic Party and the elected officials who fight for this borough every day.

The two groups supporting Zohran would seem to be those most likely to pay attention to the news. Gives me hope that his support will rise as more people tune in close to the election.
