One of the greats, and one of dozens if not hundreds of Iranian filmmakers whose career was curtailed by their government. BASHU, THE LITTLE STRANGER, is an exceptionally empathetic work about the devastating of the Iran-Iraq war ... so of course they banned it.

Everytime I hear someone disparage Frank Capra, I think of how Capra was one of Akira Kurosawa’s three favorite American filmmakers, Kurosawa adored Its a Wonderful Life, and created his own Capraesque film with One Wonderful Sunday
