I love this one because it’s completely contrary to how the Nobel prize actually works. Just complete nonsense.

This bill is do-or-die for California. Check to see if your state senator is one of the outstanding votes and urge them to do the right thing for the future of California and the country.

If you're one of Wahab's constituents, call her office and tell her what an embarrassing dipshit she is.

LA buds, roughly speaking if you live east of Fairfax and north of the 10, you live in Sen. Durazo's district. Give her office a call at (916) 651-4026 and urge her to support SB 79. It will take 3 minutes and it's the most important thing you can do politically today.

Senator Durazo parrots the equity arguments, concerned that the bill will allow for the creation of market rate housing *at the expense of* affordable housing.

Author's note: to be clear, it will not do this

IE people, if you live in Sen. Gomez Reyes' district, you should call her and urge her to support SB 79. She's at (916) 651-4029.

Can Official Messaging on Trust in Elections Break Through Partisan Polarization? Yes!

We show, using large national and state specific survey experiments, that public information campaigns from election officials work.

I’m adding a day on path dependence to my undergrad Intro to Policy Analysis class. Would love recommendations for favorite podcasts/news articles/etc that illustrate the concept!

The Minute Clinic is its own thing, as I discovered when navigating the maze to get my daughter vaccinated last summer, so hopefully you’ll have more luck there!

I don’t know if this is right, but I heard CVS Minute Clinics were the most likely to have the pediatric ones!

Many state and local policy issues have become national ideological fights over the past decade. My paper suggests that interest groups affiliated with those policy issues could send strong partisan and ideological cues about local candidates when they endorse — and that voters respond accordingly.
jengaudette.bsky.social
In real world incumbent re-election campaigns in cities of 180k+, police union endorsements go from having positive value in all cities during 2012-2015 to having negative effects in liberal cities during the heightened police polarization period of 2016-2022.
jengaudette.bsky.social
These results are significant in non-partisan and same-party elections in my conjoint experiment, showing there is both a partisan and ideological cue contained in police union endorsements.

very negatively and conservatives positively, and (2) this polarization occurs in tandem with increased ideological polarization toward police at the national level. None of these trends emerge for firefighters’ union-endorsed candidates in either study.
jengaudette.bsky.social
I use a conjoint survey experiment and a novel data set comprised of real world mayoral elections and police union + firefighters’ union endorsements to show that (1) voters have significantly polarized responses to police union-endorsed candidates, with liberals responding …

Guess I should post something here, so I’m linking my job market paper! I examine the effects of ideological polarization on local politics through the lens of police union endorsements. tinyurl.com/2s7kdpem
