Oh no! I got SEL mixed up with STEM again!

Did the egg drop challenge with autistic high school kids mentoring autistic elementary kids today. Kids had a blast!

I’m a hobbyist who has been learning about water colors this year.

We ask for a “daily dashboard” posted at the beginning of class for students. This is for HS study skills. It’s just a to do list and a reminder of what the rest of the week will look like. Other teachers do this on a whiteboard, but what matters is that kids know what to expect for the day.

Rube Goldberg devices are great for teaching SEL skills. Problem solving, resilience, planning, communication, etc.

I also made this one a few years ago. But none of my students were old enough to see R rated movies yet and they didn't laugh.

I’m doing the @newslit.org Checkology on Conspiratorial Thinking this week. The exercise on finding a secret code from a random list of words seems to always flop. I tried to mix it up by adding random colors and capitalization to the list and told them there was a celebrity name hidden in it.

We did the Pi Skyline project today as a peer mentor activity with elementary and high school students working together. We tried to see how long we could make it. #piday #edusky
