The intervention will combine Emergency Department substance use screening with referral to telehealth-delivered motivational interviewing. We hope this will be an avenue to provide early intervention to prevent substance use disorders and overdoses.

I am excited to announce that we were awarded a new $3.4 million dollar grant from CDC to evaluate the Emergency Department-Substance Use Screening, Motivational Interviewing and Active Referral Targeting Substance Use Disorder and Overdose Prevention (ED-SMART) intervention.

New paper examining if the Communities That Heal (CTH) intervention increased initiation, retention, and linkage to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Despite community-driven efforts to increase MOUD, there were no differences between CTH and control communities. doi.org/10.1016/j.dr...
