As someone who applied to over 100 positions last academic year (and only got 3 interviews; no job), I feel your pain. Stay strong, my friend. I hope your industry is less brutal then mine.

You see, combs and water did not exist back in ye olden times, so everyone was always filthy because unlike today no one felt icked out by the grime; instead they just wallowed in the filth like humans are known to love to do. For our species cleanliness is just a new fad.
