Day 1 of Thanksgiving Break for the little ones. I'm already ready for them to be back in school.

This is so dumb. Error handling, observability, DLQ mechanics, back pressure, circuit breakers, managing the broker, *documentation*. So much crap you don't want to write and manage forever as an undocumented one off tool.

Been there, done that, inflicted it on others, inherited from others.

Never gone to any effort to listen to anything else by Frank Turner, but happen to like this one album and love the #SongOfTheDay:

I think from here on out I will never criticize any public OSS project who's at least made a real effort for how their documentation content is organized. It's *hard* to organize docs in a way that helps lead readers to exactly what they need as the tooling gets bigger.

And also, I'm old enough that I remember when markdown wasn't yet a quasi standard and you authored technical web pages sometimes in raw HTML. Shudder.

Doing a little bit of technical writing today. Dunno the complete counts over the years, but besides Wikipedia articles (duh), I think the sources I've linked to the most are:

* Various Marten Fowler posts
* The EIP book
* The original C2 Wiki

Love just about everything this guy has ever done, but I think this one is my wife's favorite:

Bear w/ me on this story. JasperFx Software was funded using the proceeds from my sisters and I selling the part of our family farm that we inherited from our late grandparents. My uncle negotiated the sale to a nearby farming clan and basically hard balled them a per acre price for it that was...

Feels very on the nose that Larry Summers, he of the Epstein emails, was on the OpenAI board

Cut myself today picking up a pop top the wrong way. Going to be an aggravating morning typing w/ bandaids on a couple fingers

Might be a duplicate #SongOfTheDay, but it's a great working soundtrack when you're in the mood for gentler music:

Started the new Black Company book this week. Having trouble with Lady suddenly being a sweet Aunt character.

Cool to have a sequel to the main sequence after all these years. Easily one of my all time favorite fantasy series even though it can be bleak sometimes

"Bullshit Pickleball" made me laugh
These two are like bullshit pickleball.
BARTIROMO: All of this is part of an overall conspiracy the DOJ is trying to put together, starting with Russia collusion, the Mar-a-Lago raid. Was January 6 part of that?

COMER: I wonder who knew. Did Jamie Raskin, who's the most dishonest member of Congress, know & then go along with the coverup?

I really do try to prioritize Critter Stack issues for new clients, but one of those today just got this reaction:

*I* worry about being accessible as much as possible for my clients just in case, and I'm not in charge of anything that would ever be life threatening.
Breaking news: David Richardson resigned as acting head of FEMA.

Richardson was known for frequently being inaccessible, including during the early hours of the flood disaster in Texas over the Fourth of July weekend.
FEMA head resigns. Richardson had been hard to reach during Texas floods.

Recording a podcast next week maybe on transitioning from MediatR (or any mediator tool really) to Wolverine. Any requests or suggestions for us to cover?
November 13, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Not to stir up a fight, but I still like the "Van Haggar" incarnation of Van Halen. I think maybe it's easier if you just think of Van Halen as two separate bands who just happened to have the same name and just enjoy each for what they were.

I did try to read a Wall Street Journal article today about a GOP alternative to the ACA. Nothing but expanding HSA's and maybe some new tax cuts. Pure pre-Trump Republican ideology.
Republicans "discussing concepts" of a health care plan as millions face price hikes and losing coverage.
NEW: As health insurance bills rise, Republicans are still seeking an Obamacare alternative

There is no legislative product yet.

No consensus in the party about a plan.

But top GOP lawmakers and policy figures on Capitol Hill have begun discussing concepts.

I'm still adamant that you can get better results and much simpler code just using Wolverine.HTTP endpoints than you can with any kind of "Wolverine as MediatR" usage. Emulating MediatR just junks up your code IMO.

For any Austin folks, I'm sitting on the patio at Mozart's on a crazily beautiful day, latte in hand. I've got every single thing I need to be as productive as possible except for ambition.

I'm perfectly okay with a "walk and chew gum at the same time" approach
Spanberger and Sherrill did attack Trump frontally, including on things like his ballroom, but I agree with @brianbeutler.bsky.social that Dems absolutely can't conclude that affordability is his primary vulnerability. The lawbreaking and corruption matter too!

Democrats Become High On Their Own "Affordability" Supply
Hit Trump wherever he's weak, but don't subordinate all other politics to sticker prices, letting him off the hook for most of the reasons voters hate him.
