Refugees are people the Government believes would face persecution in their home countries. Yet they plan to increase the time it takes to get settled status from 5 years to 10 years, with many having to wait 20 to 30 years.

Plans to make people wait decades for settlement are terrifying, dangerous - and preventable.

We don't have to let hostility win. One simple thing you can do right now is support this petition, set up by refugees who are determined to fight these plans:

It was amazing to be at the Celebration of the 10th Anniversary for Birmingham being a City of Sanctuary. It was great to celebrate the welcoming community that Birmingham has been for many years. Fantastic to meet friends old & new!

But we’re worried our proud tradition of sanctuary is being undermined by divisive rhetoric and dangerous policy. 👇

Right now, across the world, there is more armed conflict than ever, since 1945. And when there is war, the risk of torture increases.

So today, and every other day, we will continue fighting with survivors for justice and for a world free from torture, where they can rebuild their lives in safety.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES 🧡

On Thursday we went with 11 families to the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery! This was a great experience to gather together & learn about the history of Birmingham.

We have loved our family activities over the summer!

Today we join over 200 orgs to stand in solidarity with those affected by the recent anti-refugee protests, many of whom have already fled unimaginable horrors to try to find safety.

This must be a turning point.

Divisive politics, racist rhetoric and demonising language are letting hate spread.

Our leaders must stop fuelling racism and build a country where everyone, no matter where they're from, can feel safe.
