Agreed. In practice, all historical & extant communist governments actively repress religion & faith communities, when all that is really necessary is true state secularism that doesn’t oppress the civil rights & liberties of individual citizens — including, I might add, public employees.

Separation of church and state is desirable, but atheism should not be forced:

2/. The Benighted States locks up a higher proportion of its population than any other ostensibly democratic country, & the prison system — which heavily skews BIPOC — relies on forced labour to function. It also generates profits for the private prison sector.

1/. Racism is the reason for & cause of slavery, not the other way around. The US abolished chattel slavery after the Civil War, but it didn’t abolish racism, & a different form of slavery persists even today: the American carceral system.
