My guess is you've maybe heard the clueless, ignorant 'Oh, but the alcohol cooks out' or some form of that? Or that being sober for five years somehow means it's been cured?

Even the poor folks who spend crazy amounts on lottery tickets appear frivolous, but it's just further evidence how desperate they have to be for slim chances of escaping the hopeless state of poverty because there's no hope the system will change.

I used to have these lofty yearly reading goals, like 200 books. But six kids, college for 12 years (finished now), writing, editing, life made me realize I need to way lower my quantity and opt for quality and just not neglecting reading in general. It's made books way more enjoyable.

I read for an indie book publisher and a genre magazine and submit to many others. I see a ton of small press openness/encouragement/excitement for diverse voices, but not ever from Tier 1 presses like the big five.

Yes. I keep having random Dave Ramsey crap popping up about his steps to wealth, the backbone of which is save and invest so much %, don't have car payments, own don't rent in this economy, etc. A guy getting rich off the false hope of the paycheck to paycheck crew. He's a clueless pos.
