Good morning, I’m canceling all my plans for the rest of my life because this is how Mookie looks at me when she figures out I’m leaving the apartment, thanks for understanding!!
A tortie cat with massive yellow eyes wide open in shock stares at the camera from a green couch with red and orange pillows on it.

The baby... in her... placenta??

Just failing the basic stuff, y'all. No wonder the rest of it goes right above their heads.

RFK Jr: "Somebody showed me a TikTok video of a pregnant woman at 8 months pregnant -- she's an associate professor at the Columbia Medical School -- and she is saying 'F Trump' and gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta. The level of Trump Derangement Syndrome is now a pathology."

On Tylenol and autism:

"However, in line with prior KFF polling on a variety of health misinformation topics, many adults express uncertainty and fall into the “malleable middle,” saying this unproven claim is either “probably true” (30%) or “probably false” (30%)."

Misinfo creates uncertainty.

Pretty sure we all agree with you there! I saw Sandy Koufax was in attendance tonight, maybe he’s got something left 🫠

It's data day in our class on racism in public health. We're talking about this article, Trump's Jan. 2025 data purge, and the history of how people of various races and ethnicities have been categorized in the United States today.

And then there's their wildly anti-labor policies and the way they treat their employees (no, not the software engineers and other white-collar ones).

We can't fix Amazon ourselves as individuals but we can (and should) choose to spend our own hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

Everything is awful but today I got to write a letter of reference for an amazing student and a letter of support for a colleague going up for an award, and holy shit, I love my field and colleagues and students so much.

.... Also the Yankees lost, and that was pretty nice too.

Not only have the Mariners been doing this all season, but they've also been selling blue corndogs -- dipped in nacho cheese and covered in blue Takis -- all year.
A corndog being held up in a baseball stadium. It's covered in crushed up blue Takis.

Finished my PhD in 2023 and rolled right into teaching! Been up here since 2019 though

Man we are one week into the quarter here at UW and I bet most of those students were total strangers to each other before this class, that right there is community building

This is my campus, and I’m sure the right-wing weirdos who are obsessed with college students are gonna be super normal about all this….

Anyway, no Nazis on campus 💜

Hey public health folks, I'm guest lecturing on the social determinants of health again in a few weeks but the usual talk and activities feel... outdated, given all this. What have you added to you SDOH talks that address the current climate? Any good readings or activities to suggest?

It's wild that any joy or pleasure we can get these days feels wrenched away from the ever-increasing fascism. Anyway, I picked up a violin for the first time and started taking lessons, hope you can find your joy too.
A violin in a blue case. We're looking down from the scroll and pegs to the top part of the beck and fingerboard.

I hope you’re right because a lot of Trump’s thing was just him saying over and over that you should just “tough it out“ when you’re pregnant and in pain or have a fever. Lol my guy, you first.

If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.
jessieish.bsky.social
Same. One ridiculous moment among so, so many.

Fevers and pain in pregnancy are linked to poor outcomes for both the parent and baby. Childhood vaccines save lives. This man is the leader of a death cult.
atrupar.com
Trump: "I think it has -- I think it's very bad. They're pumping, it looks like they're pumping into a horse. You have a little child, a little fragile child, and you get a vat of 80 different vaccines, I guess. 80 different blends. And they pump it in. So ideally, a woman won't take Tylenol."
jessieish.bsky.social
He goes on to struggle to pronounce acetaminophen and tell people that they need to "tough it out" when they experience pain or fever during pregnancy. Which will kill people.
atrupar.com
Trump: "I think I can say there are certain groups of people that don't take vaccines and don't take any pills that have no autism. Does that tell you something? Is that a correct statement, by the way? ... I'm not so careful with what I say."
jessieish.bsky.social
Hmmmm, now that it's started, I'm watching and finding myself increasingly miserable somehow.... Did he just stumble over pronouncing acetaminophen?
