I love how much of it is a blank slate
The final Calvin and Hobbes, which appeared in papers 30 years ago today.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by HEB but any time I see Aldi ads the brands sound like brands TV shows use to avoid paying fees

so back in the 00s you still needed floppies for h.s. for various reasons. I eventually got tired of forgetting to write my name on mine and started using a set of Looney Tunes ones we inexplicably had

It's incredibly frustrating that major plot points in the new season of Stranger Things only make sense if you go online and google spoilers for a play that Netflix doesn't want to release a pro-shot of.

Super aces that they'll merge with WB soon, just one massive studio that doesn't release shit

Any movie with Meatloaf is a Halloween movie because Meatloaf is a Halloween icon. This includes Spice World.

I used to work in indie theatre and literally any kind of press that goes wide enough could mean needing a lawyer. There's a big time comedy group that loves to send out nuisance C&Ds; I knew a company that got sued by religious groups for doing "Corpus Christi" because they objected to gay Jesus.
Btw this is one of the biggest reasons why it’s not as easy as people think to start up independent newsrooms or just be an indie journalist on substack. If you are actually holding powerful and rich people to account, you WILL need legal representation. Not a matter of whether but when
I say that as someone who has started newsrooms from scratch sometimes with two people - if you’re doing your job correctly you will need a lawyer because the first thing rich people do when you write something they don’t like is threaten you legally. It’s cheap for them and expensive for you

So the 94 remake of Miracle on 34th Street failed because it went up against The Santa Clause and the marketing was a little heavy on the "Santa on trial" angle and actually watching it, that is an all time fumble because there's literally an ad campaign in the movie about believing in Santa Claus

Watching Muppet Christmas Carol and thinking about how sad and angry Charles Dickens would be to see that 200 years later it would seem like a total fairy tale that a rich man could even be capable of a change of heart

Having shitty interoception is fun because I couldn't sleep because I was too hungry but now that I'm awake and sitting up I don't feel it

Clearly I still need to eat but my brain and body are not in agreement on when

I bought super sharp cheddar at HEB this week not realizing it would be super salty tasting so I put a small piece of lindt milk chocolate over it on a cracker and it was so goddamn Christmasy

TV nerd reminder that Deadline accidentally leaked that we're getting a Muppet Show revival miniseries next spring and everybody better talk about it
You guys, the Mighty Nein might be a perfect TV show, I love everything about it and the way the writing and pacing incorporates everything so seamlessly in such a satisfying and visually stunning way 😭😭 please go watch it it’s amazing

Personally, I don't think Rey and Kylo are distinct enough from Jacen and Jaina to justify new characters except for the shipping

Also I cannot do handle the concept of Reylo because in my head that's just Jacen and Jaina
My Star Wars '90s EU hottest takes:

~Michael A. Stackpole walked so Andor could run.
~Gara Petothel is one of the best SW EU characters ever, second only to Kreia.
~Children of the Jedi was, in fact, one of the very best EU novels, bar none. Yes, even the Thrawn Trilogy.

This applies to Trekkies and Starfleet Academy as well
There is nothing fans are more enamored with than a movie that didn’t get made.

It is only potential. It exists only in your mind, where it always made the exact right choices. It didn’t violate your narrow sense of canon. It is only what you love about the franchise, and it can never fail you.
You could almost call it the Rise of Solo. Or maybe A New New Hope.

All forms of gender essentialism are gateways to extremism
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The sad thing is Oates listed a whole spectrum of human experiences that Musk never seems to express interest in, including listening to music, reading, and having friends, and this is what he jumped on to try to stimulate "enjoyment"
Joyce Carol Oates owned Elon so hard he's spent the last day posting about movies he hasn't seen in 15 years

I have a bit i have to do whenever I see an ad for Tracker complete with Announcer Guy Voice:

TRACKER, ON CBS! It's not Reacher but it's good enough!
My favorite running comedy bit is whenever CBS knows it has additional viewers for a live sporting event they run a bunch of promos for clearly fake shows just to screw with them
