@handsoffnyc.bsky.social is training thousands of New Yorkers on how to protect their neighbors from ICE. Today, they are currently running two trainings in Brooklyn and the Bronx, both of which hit capacity because interest was so high.

This is the way, y’all—we protect each other, and we know it.

What if everyone who wasn't pro-monopoly and consolidation of media entities cancelled their Netflix subscription? 🏴‍☠️

It's been incredibly fulfilling, in this hellfire of a year, to find community and purpose with this group.

Let's make art and clean parks.

[Upcoming Events, designed and illustrated by me. The Environmental Printmaking Workshop design is NOT mine, but my colleague's, Finn Bowles the Untaggable.]
We're closing 2025 with 2 free events!

Pick your flavor of community-building; we're making art at Artist & Craftsman 12/5, and cleaning Alki, co-starring A Cleaner Alki 12/22.

RSVP for the workshop here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmVcupXw3r1aXknxDUoZYO9DVQD1cIlNb38kQqSFVRxg-yLA/viewform

If you're angry at the idea of austerity in a state with its fair share of billionaires, and you haven't called Bob Ferguson's office yet, a reminder:

It's your right as an American to call and tell him to pull his head out of his ass.

We will continue to work to ensure that we are protecting the most vulnerable in our state as the Trump Administration will doubtless continue its cuts and harmful economic policies. Maintaining our Rainy Day Fund reserves will help us weather this storm.

I'm not sure I'll ever forgive AI bros for managing to paint us as Luddites for suggesting regulations.
When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles.

Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.
