"AL SLOP"

or "AYE-EYE PSY-OP"

Been there. Caught myself thinking “I wonder how much pressure it would take to actu— oh. Ow. OW. That’s not much at all.”

I played that with Kid 2 (who’s got his TMNT action figures out all over the lounge room tonight) and it was a nice bit of nostalgia.

And once that behaviour is embedded and you think it's ok to do when you're not on cam.... the worst.

From David Finlay, on FB's Australian Meteor Reports group.
"I get triggered every time I hear an Australian reporter say “Harvest Moon” or “Strawberry Moon”, names taken from the northern hemisphere. So I created a Full Moon Calendar with local descriptions. What do you think?"

Love it.
Screengrab of a post from Facebook's Australian Meteor Reports by David Finlay with the text "I get triggered every time I hear an Australian reporter say “Harvest Moon” or “Strawberry Moon”, names taken from the northern hemisphere. So I created a Full Moon Calendar with local descriptions. What do you think? If you like it share it with your friends…it’s on my personal profile or just copy the image."

For every €1 provided through a Basic Income For Artists pilot program in Ireland, the government got €1.46 back. So it’s being made permanent.

Over and over we see it. It saves public money to provide public housing. And it makes public money to provide basic income.

We can’t afford to NOT do it.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Gosh I'd love to have a crack at making this.

Side note: it's sweet seeing the new-for-their-time photoshop filters and effects getting a work out :) the gradient fills and embossed logos, the torn-edge paper frames... it was a happier place. before the dark times. before the Empire.

I've never looked at the Star Wars Introductory Adventure Boxed Set from 1997 before, and am somewhat chuffed by the convergent design decisions it shares with my own Jez Edition. Nice work @schweigbskysocial.bsky.social ! more here: hobbygamesrecce.blogspot.com/2022/03/weg-...

Been reading through Lord Have Mercy Upon Us by @caesar-ink.bsky.social and I’m still obsessed with the index/random encounter table/dust jacket.

Such a clever feature. I long for a bookmark version tho, just I find reading a book with the dust jacket on to be a bit awkward.

There was a series of comics about alt-history Star Wars, where at various key points things went differently. I really should read those next. Yeah there we are: Star Wars Infinities.
