You can read the intro to Your Own Dark Shadow, in which I discuss a time I got haunted and wax philosophical about horror, on the Tramp Press website:

Not to be whiny, but I would really like for something good to happen. On a personal level. On a national level. On a global level. One of all three.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I laugh every single time I see the phrase 'the Primate of All Ireland."

Absolutely vile.

Not that I want to overload the fine people at @booksupstairs.bsky.social with work at this fraught moment, but consider sending some business their way to show support.

The first season of "Dark Winds" is on Netflix, and it's great. Check it out if you like whodunnits/crime stories; you won't be disappointed. I hope the other seasons are added soon.

You might not want to hear this but
*tepid non-controversial take*
and I don't care who hears me say it.

You have to speak up about the important things like
*nearly universally accepted pop culture phenomenon*

I might get shadow-banned for saying it, but
*the thing everybody's already said today*

Tickled at the image of Manchán Magan and Hyacinth Bucket arriving in the Aftlerlife on the same train.

It should go without saying, of course, that material circumstances and social awkwardness are not important to this equation. The only true losers here are the ones who fall for it and join up, and they can stop being losers by leaving that shite behind.

To paraphrase a heap of interviews with ex-nazis: they don't try to recruit the most popular kids in the school, because they have nothing to offer those kids. They go after kids they perceive to be losers with no self-esteem, and 'love-bomb' them.

Some of the reactions to this seem like misreadings to me. This isn't frightening; it's pathetic. It's the performance of a loser who's decided on weirding out his classmates as a coping mechanism. Never forget: by their own admission, Nazi movements specifically recruit losers.

The year is 2003.

17-year-old Stephen Miller is sitting in the back of a school bus talking about torture, as in “Torture is a celebration of human life and dignity."

Miller looks directly into the camera and describes the torturing Iraqis in gruesome detail, as his peers laugh uncomfortably.

Looks like it was ambitious to think I could get four pieces finished today to meet a deadline. Ah well, I'll finish them during the week anyway; they won't go to waste.
