If you missed the livestream with @thomasha.bsky.social last night talking about writing and Uncertain Sons, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube. It was such a fun conversation. Give it a listen and be sure to also check out his story collection for yourself.

I always look forward to your posts when we get a new release

Yeah they're like opposite ends of the spectrum for scope and identity, which I don't dislike but it's a listening leap going from something as expansive as TTPD to as intimate as TLOAS

I might move a couple around, but would have a pretty similar list. I wouldn't say I dislike Wood but that is a wild track to just drop into this album

I can see the similar sound between those two

Eldest Daughter and Fate of Ophelia in the top two spots right now.

The entire first section really is a vibe, Opalite included, I confess.

Ruin the Friendship and its Nashville setting.

And the last track really does tie it all off nicely

Absolutely agree on those song picks

I'm liking the whole album more with each listen. I had been curious what it would end up being about beyond the aesthetic

Some Saturdays just call for watching Weird Al play the local amphitheater

Nashville life is walking somewhere downtown and ending up next to the same screaming tavern on wheels at every intersection for 5 blocks.

This is staggering.
Dismantling the right wing propaganda machine is imo one of the biggest and most vital obstacles to the future of this country.

Trump’s allies now control X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, & TikTok.

They own Fox News, CBS, WaPo, WSJ & NY Post.

They own Sinclair Broadcasting which has 200 tv stations and local news in 100 markets.

“Freedom of speech” is now what Trump and his billionaire pals say it is.

The Jimmy Kimmel firing, Colbert's show, what's happening at WaPo, CBS... legacy journalism is slowly but surely coming under state control.

It is more important now than ever before that we support the independent journalists out there doing the work not beholden to a fascist's bidding.

This is such a lovely livestream conversation. The book is going straight into my cart, and such a good reminder of why I love the writing community. Especially these days.

Controversial opinion, but I think trans people should feel safe here on bluesky, and nazis shouldn't.

Remember how scary it was for the 36 hours where it felt like the Right could explode into violence as a repercussion of an assassination? That's what our trans brothers & sisters feel like every fucking day

We have to protect them at all costs. They are our line in the sand; not a bargaining chip.

🚨🚨🚨 I need to talk about censoring of info in TN at the K-12 and college level. It seems Tre Hargett’s 1984 Ministry of Truth has arrived.

There is a data base for students nationally called Opposing Viewpoints. It provides reputable sources to both sides of an issue for students for research.

Simply the best slide I have ever seen in a powerpoint presentation care of @premeemohamed.com’s talk at @banffcentre.bsky.social re: Putting the Science in Science Fiction
Text mounted on a screen reads as follows:

WHAT IS SCIENCE FICTION?

1. DOESN'T MATTER
2. WHO CARES
3. MARKETING DEPARTMENT'S PROBLEM
4. NOT YOURS

I love how the second part of Banksy's newest mural, which is a comment on censorship and oppression, was done by the very people he is critiquing.

Their response was predictable, and relied upon, and imho has created a masterpiece.
Mural on a greyish white wall. Nearby iron railings painted black. A depiction of a judge beating a person who is on the ground holding, I think, the scales of justice. It has been painted over, but a dark grey shadow remains. They look ghostly, or like shadows burned into the wall
