Jenrick being the loudest member of the Conservative party has already been a huge contributor to the poisoning of our politics. We really don't need any four-dimensional chess about him becoming leader. When it happens, it will be a terrible day for our country.
paulbernal.bsky.social
A Tory party under Jenrick might take a few of the racist votes from Reform, but they’d haemorrhage bucketloads to the Lib Dems.

So, on balance…

The Tories oversaw the near collapse of the criminal justice system which effectively decriminalised rape, they have nothing to say to rape victims & survivors who are being repeatedly failed so blame foreign perps, even when the perps are British, & ignoring how rape is about violent men not race.

Badenoch: "Why couldn't we deport those foreign nationals who raped girls in communities across the UK? Why do we still allow them to remain in the very same town where their victims live?" Because, yet again, the bulk of them were UK nationals, many of them born here.

1/4 Antisemitism is not taken seriously enough in progressive spaces or in pro-Palestinian activism spaces - that is simply a statement of fact

Week after week we saw antisemitic elements at pro-Palestine protests, shouting hatred with protesters walking by saying and doing nothing about it

The "lanyard class" should almost always be parsed as an attack on women who work, and the enforcement of norms that make workplaces better for them.
georgemonbiot.bsky.social
This is his repeated attacks on what he calls the "lanyard class". Who are the terrible people who wear lanyards? Doctors & nurses, care workers, teachers, managers, administrators, secretaries. The people who hold society together, who keep everything running, who do the jobs he wouldn't stoop to.

I never post on Yom Kippur but:

When British Jews tell you antisemitism is getting worse BELIEVE US. It shouldn’t take us getting stabbed by terrorists on the holiest day in our calendar for you to believe us.

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

Reform invited Lucy Connolly – who was jailed for inciting violence in a post calling for asylum hotels to be burned down – to be a main stage speaker at their party conference *just last month*.

Harry Cole here, suggesting that because someone in Utah shot Charlie Kirk 3 weeks ago, Keir Starmer shouldn’t be nasty about Nigel Farage in the U.K.
jhepplestone.bsky.social
It was only a week after Jo Cox was killed that Farage was crowing about Brexit being won "without a single bullet being fired", something I remember every time he opens his mouth to whine about how awfully terribly badly he's being treated.

you're laughing. George Galloway has been detained under anti-terror legislation at Gatwick Airport on the way back from Moscow and you're laughing.

The radicalisation happening of UK elites is bad, bodes ill for the future, but is also, to be clear, really really funny quite a lot of the time.

The Fabians thing is hilarious. Probably the first time a conspiracy has genuinely made me laugh out loud.
